  • I haven't seen a video on removing the pin detent from a milwaukee or anyone showing the size of the punch needed to remove the pin. At the end of this video I took some measurements just in case someone out there wanted to know what size is the pin detent maybe swap it out for a Ryobi or Dewalt like i was thinking of doing.

the problem with the pin detent is the shoulder that is straight up that's what catches if you would have taken and filed off that straight vertical shoulder on the sides of the pin detent and made it round the same profile as the top. Don't cut any off the top just make it a round profile all the way and it'll come right off. And it will still hold a socket tightly.

I just installed 3" impact extension from harbor freight kit (item#67066 ) instead of messing with the pin, which also allows slight angle socket usage if required and has ball on the end that lets sockets come off easier. When I need crazy socket hold power or extension gets in the way I'll take it off and deal with pressing the pin for those few instances.

Thanks for taking the time to post this.
My 2860-20 is driving me crazy with the detent pin hanging up. Guess I'll go with option 2.
Trying to get change sockets under the car while doing suspension work was a PITA.
    Ignore the negative response posts!

When I didn't align the pin the sockets would always come off when using the tool. But is alright now because I switched the anvil to friction ring no more problems

I'm one of the first to mod the Midtorque, and repair. This video what just my progress on trying to grind the pin detent to match the Ryobi P261 but I failed and took too much. FYI I use it on engine builds, removing wheels, wheel stud replacement, crank pulley control arms, brakes, seats. etc....anvil swap video here check it out th-cam.com/video/bh3QThbo4OY/w-d-xo.html
