I'm 50 years old and just now got back into hiking big time since my college days. Your videos are awesome and totally inspire me. You will never understand how impactful these videos are to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
A.T. Trivia Morsel. The ponies are descended from the "'pit ponies" which were beasts of burden in the coal mines. Before mechanized methods took over. Mines were called "pits" back then. For the fine views from the heights, and all the vids, thanks.
When we were there at Grayson Highlands.. The ponies came into our campsite at night and the stallion decided to make some new ponies with his pony girlfriends by our campfire! It was embarrassing to say the least.. And they nearly stepped on our tents!
Beautiful country. I just recently challenged myself on a luxurious 3 day 2 night hike from whitetop thru the greyson highlands. 25 mile loop. It was awesome!
The Va highland ponies! Va also has em on Chincoteague Island on the Eastern shore and some in Back Bay near NC on the Outer Banks! Very cool! I love listening to your accent. I am from Va and now Tex and love southern accents! Be safe as I am 7 years behind ya!
watching your playlist from AT 2015, loving it very much, thanks for taking the time and passion doing this its so nice to see you and all your comraderie together with others. It could almost be considered a series, getting to know everyone along the way. Dixie is a lovely name.
It's funny watching these early AT videos. Your editing in much different than now. You are more focused on the socializing on the trail than you are on the actual hike.
I parked my truck in a field in North Alabama to climb down into a ravine/mini canyon to catch some channel cats. When I got back to the truck with my bucket full of fish, I found that a horse made his way into the field and proceeded to chew on the black rubber door seal. Why? Why the rubber and not the grass that was everywhere?
I live near Damascus and bike the creeper trail all the time! Last summer I hiked Mt. Rogers and hammock camped with my dad and brother and actually got kicked in the leg by a wild pony hahaha. I have a short GoPro video on my channel of that hike if you want to check it out!
I just saw today on your blog that your puppy passed away, sorry, it is just like losing a part of your family. Hope you got your supreme pizza !!!!!!!!!! Safe hiking to ya !!!!
I'm curious to see how you plan on catching up to your tramily. Aren't they 2 weeks ahead of you guys? and what happen to the other two that was with you ? did you leave them on the trail? because you are by your self again.
I know this comment is super late. I'm curious to see how you plan on catching up to your tramily.Aren't they 2 weeks ahead of you guys? Maybe if you're doing 25 miles every day,and hoping they do a few zeros.. I'm going to keep watching, you all are giving me the fever! XD

Funny you love hiking with other people and I hike to get away from others.
I like being by myself, too. Every so often it's nice to hike with one or two other people. But not 8 haha.

Genius! He asked you out, made sure when and where it would be, AND included a 50% chance you'd be paying for it. I must learn this zen 😂

Definitely a beautiful hike. Didn't thru hike. I saw quite a few ponies, I didn't touch them and none were quite as persistent. :)

One of my favorite areas to backpack. Thank you for sharing.
Was just at Grayson Highlands State Park last month. Hiked a bit of that AT and the Sound of Music was the first thing I thought of too.
Watching in 2020. I'm curious, do you still keep in touch with your AT family?
Wild ponies are so cute!!
