      The iron you pulled out is called a Sad Iron. From the pioneer days, and older. Don't try to take it apart. It contains asbestos.

      Alex? Ty has not posted in 6 days, hope he is okay, I worry that you might think viewers get bored watching same things, but it is never tiresome, you both are so entertaining. So please keep posting and if Ty is sick please let us know.

    The knife is a trapper. Its worth a bout 20.00. Look to see who made it. If it's a case it's between 50 and 100.

    Epic finds out there! That river is packed with stuff! It’s like those London canals out there lol. That skateboard truck must’ve been mid-late 80’s, I had one when I was little that had plastic wheels like that

      @thefindingfamily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That river is the best stretch of water I've fished so far by a long shot... was thinking of doing like a top find compilation video or something. Thanks for watching bro!

    That old iron u found is about 100 or more yrs old; I’m 68 and my grandmother had that kind of iron, she would put it on top of her wood burning stove to heat it up. They had wood handle ( not that medal handle u found) to make it safe to touch. Love both of u individual and together 😎

    • @thefindingfamily
      @thefindingfamily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow that is super old! And the wood handle makes sense haha 😄 we have found a handful of those irons now fishing all around this area... pretty strange 🤔

    That pocket knife looks so good because the blades are stainless steel and the handle is either plastic or bone. It could have been down there for 40 years and still look the same.!!!

    You know Alex, very soon you'll be explaining to a young man about how life was when you were young, just as I'l doing now. LOL Anyway, when I was a young boy, back in the early 60's Bikes were made in the proud USA. There was no plastic cheap chain guards. They would say, proudly made in the USA. They were mostly made of chrome or metal. Fenders were the same. That's why your finding them still together even until this day.

    • @thefindingfamily
      @thefindingfamily  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope to perhaps find the frame or fender after they pull that dock out for winter, I'm sure there's plenty more bikes in the area... I think a chrome fender would be really cool decorative piece.

      @@thefindingfamily You know Alex, when I was a very young man, we had a dump. not a transfer station. When ever I went to the dump, I would grab whatever I could for bike parts. I was the cool kid that rode along with the parades and showed off my chopper bike, a 16 inch wheel on the front and an 26" 3 speed English wheel on the back. I can't remember how long my front forks were but, they were long Anyway, I had so many parts up above our 2 car garage. The long sissy bars that went on the back of the banana seats. I could go on and on but, I grew up, got into building cars and my dad, later on in life, threw out all those great parts. There worth a bundle now!!

    They used Touse dip nets for smelt fishing ,I think that's what that rig is for ,to raise and lower nets,lights,ect,years ago the great lakes were loaded with these small fish.that used to be easy to catch,the water was loaded with fish,just scoop them out with dip nets.but then you had to clean them,10000000of them3 inch long fish.fun to eat ,but not to clean.
