Nice video Greg. Good looking queen!
Thankyou sir! Time to go check to see if she’s laying:)
2:25 you point out the “virgin queen” but the subject of this video was the return of a mated queen. So she’s no longer a virgin queen 😉😁👍
Good observation. While she was definitely on a mating flight, until I see eggs...she’s a Virgin. However, the next day after taking the video I saw eggs and confirmed my observation at the entrance.
Bravo, that's cool. Keep throwing that knowledge.
Thx for watching Jimbo!
So the mating takes place in the beehive? For I read that the Queen flies to a special drone site.....
Excellent!
Had a queen emerge on the 4th and saw the rest of the cells being torn apart. Its now the 9th any ideas when I should expect to see her back? So far I haven't seen her since emerging and no increase in bees either. Fingers crossed
I’m doing my first mating nuc right now and have 5 queen cups that are just now being capped over!!! About how long does it take from when they hatch out to then go on a mating flight and come back home?? 3-5 days??? I read in the comments where you said the next day you saw eggs so I’m assuming that very quickly once she comes back she will begin laying. 👍
Takes around 6-7 days to cap a cell, 6-8 days to emerge and up to 7-10 days to go on a mating flight. If the conditions are right inside the hive and there is pollen and nectar, we've seen them lay within 24hrs of coming home.
For how many days queen went out from yr hive for mating or did she really came bck to yr nuc after mating flight??
Lol I never seen a thing better video needed
I heard new queen is mating with drones for mating flight, how to mate without flying artificially
Can you tell it's a new virgin queen just by looking at her, or did this hive have no queen, so you know she is a new queen?
