- This miniature travel bass guitar has amazing tone for its size. Blackstar did a really good job. So small it fits into the carry-on overhead compartment of an airplane.
I am testing this bass guitar with a Dancing Queen by ABBA cover. In memory of Rutger Gunnarsson the lesser known and under recognised 5th member of ABBA.

Sounds great man! Just ordered one myself and I’m so stoked. The thumb rest is an awesome touch!
Thanks very much for the positive feedback 🙏🙌🙌
Amazing
Great cover! And what a great tone that bass has….sounds perfect! 👍
Thanks so much 🙏🏻
Amazing playing and wow that sound from that tiny thing is great!
Thanks so much 🙏🏻. I was also really surprised when I saw and tried it at the shop, had to have it 😄.

Brilliant! 👏👏👏
Thanks so much 🙏🏻

Thanks so much for the encouragement 🙏

Thanks so much for the encouragement 🙏🙏
Ok you sold me.....where can I find one ?
I got mine from www.citymusic.com.sg/ in the shop physically, they seem to be on Lazada too. You might be able to find a local dealer from the blackstaramps.com/dealers/ website
@@injuredtechman Thank you 🙏
Nice growly bass tone from that little thing! Great job on the ABBA bass line, too! 🤙
Thanks so much for the encouragement 🙏.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gee I thought it looks like a Ukelele. Perhaps you should tune it to gCEA? I'm glad you like it. 'Tip toe, though the tulips...' :-)
some kick-ass playin’ here 👏🏻
pls allow 2 questions: how was the bass recorded and that thumb rest … where did you get it and how is it installed?
Thanks for the kind compliments, really appreciate it 🙏🏻.
I lined it in on this one, but had some help with the sound from a Waves CLA-2A compressor.
The thumb rest I got from the local instrument shop and screwed it on myself. Short screws, no drilling required.
@@injuredtechman Danke aus Germany 🇩🇪
You do it wonderful men! now my question is: You play them by ear or tablature? And if you use tab, could you tell me which tablature it is? excellent Groove .
Half half, I started learning it from tablature online but changed it to what I could manage with the smaller size of the bass because the fingers do squeeze up quite a bit on the frets. There's a good one you can follow under "CoverSolutions" thecoversolutions.com
Hello mister ! Thank you very much for your brilliant cover🎉.
A question: which was the tone knob setting of the bass? Turned about to highest /medium/low ? I Hope the question Is understandable 😂
Thanks very much for the compliment, really appreciate it 🙏🏻. I had it 75% full on the tone knob.
@@injuredtechmanvery kind of you...thank you.
Keep It up with your great work! Have a good day!!!
Wonderful! Are you using the very heavy gauge strings this Blackstar has straight from the factory, or did you change them - and if so, what did you change them to? Many thanks in advance for your reply.
Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am still using the factory strings, they feel medium gauged for short scale basses.
Hi, that’s very interesting and helpful, thank you! I am finding the Blackstar strings very difficult to play when compared with those on my usual bass, which is short scale, but came with much lighter gauge ones . However with a scale length of 28.4 inches, my usual one is still a lot longer than the Blackstar, which I guess is why they put heavier strings on the Blackstar. I will have to start those finger-strengthening exercises I have always been meaning to do! Thanks again.
Your left hand is dancing!!!!!
Thanks so much for the encouragement 🙏
Did you put that bass through the dryer and shrink it?
😂lol
Hello. Realy Amazing. What set of strings is available for this bass to change when boken? I see they are with taper! 37-90 set of steel with taper at 23.5" scale. Hard to find...
Or is it possible to get 90´s or 100´s without taper in the Tuning Head`s?
Thanks so much.
You right, I have yet to change the strings 🫣
Check "Aquila 210U Short Scale Bass Strings", they are flatwounds, suitable for 590 - 660 mm (23" - 26"). Cost: EU 79
@@Kunibert_Knatter Awesome!
@@injuredtechman Well, today I had to learn that the Aquila I mentioned do not have a metallic core! So will likely not work over magnetic pickups, though they have cooper windings. Please forgive me to have stirred confusion.
The search for strings continues....
What is the overall length and width, Techman?
I ask because it comes without a gigbag. I try to find one which is big enough for this great bass.
Thanks in advance!
23.46" I have other small sized guitars, reused the bag for a Yamaha APX T2
@@injuredtechman That would be the scale length, overall should be 33-34"
22.81" I believe www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/APXT2Blk--yamaha-apxt2-3-4-size-thin-line-cutaway-black
👍bravo
