Omg if you have time, hope you can search up Young K's performances at various festivals this year, like Busan International Rock Fest, or Beautiful Mint Life, etc. As for why "nothing but" was the title... I can't recall him talking about that from all the interviews. But I suspect it's because of the JYP internal evaluation system for songs. Young K said that he wasn't aiming for a full album, he just kept submitting songs as he finished them, and he didn't expect it, but 11 songs were approved through that system. And so they put it all in the album. So I think they didn't conceptualize the album as "ah, this will be a high energy summer album". Not sure if he established a concept at all either; it just so happened these are the songs that survived the JYP approval system. But that's just my take on it based on what he has said about the album.
I appreciated your reaction! I like how you dive deep and analyze the album musically. I also fully agree with your reflection on ballads and how they can be emotionally healing or consuming and that What Is is a perfect song for that!

But soul got the most shout out from musicians (inc you), Sungjin and Dowoon (DAY6 member) also said soul is their #1, bcs how tasteful and amazing lyric of the song.

And it has 3 energetic songs, one feature and 3 ballads! And i love the ballads there. Also for another Day6 memebr. Wonpil from Day6 has ballad full album: Pilmography. And its really good. I think JYP said somewhere the Wonpil's album is thr best ballad album jype ever realised.
