A lot of history there in those carriages Brad, thanks for explaining them in detail. The two "S" class sound like they have been silenced with new type of mufflers? Expected to see Santa standing in the doorway of the last car and throwing you a bag of lollies.😉
The carraige BZN252 was on VN14 recent as I rode this carraige only last week. I think the BTN253 ans BTN251 are alot lot older as WC is in it's original position still.... When modified from ACZ. Why did your source your information from?
Couldn't have been BZN252 you rode in that recently, it is still at the workshops. The BTN's look older as they still have the old fit-out inside whereas the BZN's have newer internals and DDA compliant toilets (which is also why the BTN's got retired earlier). The info is from Vicsig, but the ACZ's were all renumbered in line with their original AZ numbering anyway.
@Greensleeves94 the old BTN 251 is unmodifed but the window track in window are not exposed but the older BZN 252 still has it window blind track exposed! it was ex Wally Rail Car that was modified..... BTN 251 is still in the public roster for now not as heavliy modified in the WC areas ... I suspect this BZN252 just as old although DDA compliant as you can see it's wood work in the window areas whist the other carraige has it all covered it up! if it was in the workshop I think just there for repairs that period you shot that video before it went back on the train VN14 from N13...as they shuffled the carraiges around if the required major repairs I rode it on 15/12/2024!
fantastic video mate
Thanks
Nice. I don’t ever see n classes as I live in the east

Don't think the S's have been muffled (I'd be surprised if they were given they're heritage units), but probably not being worked too hard
they haven't been silenced. They were well and truly powering (and making alot of the usual awesome S class noise) that weekend
