I have seven revolvers, some going back 100 years, and for 25 years, I've often carried my five-shot shrouded hammer Smith M-38 that disappears into the front pocket of nylon shorts. I spend every summer in southern Colorado on the Rio Grande at 8200'. I've seen bears up there my whole life. Five years ago, I had a very large black get too close while fishing and I began researching a gun for bear defense. After a year of research, I chose a 4.2" Redhawk in 45 Colt/45ACP with a DiamondD Guide's Choice rig. As you say, because of the versatility of the chambering, I can run factory ACPs or any level of Buffalo Bore, HSM, or my favorite, the Garrett Cartridges of Texas' 420gr 45 Colt Hammerheads. Realizing how much fun that was, I recently chose a 3" full lug 686 Plus Deluxe over the 3" GP100-after much deliberating, and I've begun trying different ammo for woods walks, plinking, personal defense, and such. Bottom line, after 35 years of semi-autos, I've discovered that I, too, love revolvers and I'm ready to begin loading my own. Great video!
You really need to own a Ruger Single action gun. I own 3 and they are my favorites to just have "Old West" fun, but I also grew up watching the old westerns because I am old. But, to your point, I LOVE S&W wheel guns. The first gun I ever bought was the 686! I used to go to the range with ALL my ammo, the entire 300 rounds that I reloaded.
I have shot rugers, S&W, and Dan Wessons. I ultimately fell in love with a stainless Dan Wesson with the 8" barrel in 44 mag. Correct designation 744 8V. The DW has lots of advantages including the interchangeable barrels and being stong enough to fire loads that would seize a S&W. If your ever on the West side of the state your welcome to try it.
I used to have issues when loading light 38 and 44 special rounds. Specifically with powder position causing shot to shot variations. I found Trailboss powder to be the ticket with it's larger donut shaped granules. It fills the case to a higher percentage. Ron Power is a name to know if you want to work on your S&W revolver.
Talk about going from a Yugo to a Cadillac. My first 44mag is a Ruger Blackhawk 8 1/4 . Bear repellent! The favorite would be the one I received from my Grandfather a m1917 Colt he carried in WW1. 45apc.
I’ve got a smith model 19-5 that was my grandfather’s, it’s a dream to shoot. A model 60 pro series, a 629-1 8” stainless, a 460 XVL 8 3/8 in barrel, a Ruger GP100, three RedHawks two in 7.5” barrels and one in 5” , and three Uberti SAA’s. I love them all, but my favorite is my Grandfather’s old 19.
The triggers on my wheel guns Model 29 8 3/8" and Model 19 6" are truly amazing from the factory back in 1978-79. I also have a Model 10 2" barrel that has taken many snakes down here. I was able to take a deer at 180 yards with the 44 magnum, double lung and heart hit, it leaped straight up and flipped then flopped on the ground right where it stood! Yes, I hand load for all of my guns except the 22LR's... My most accurate 44 magnum load I developed was 16.2 grains of Blue Dot under the RCBS 240 grain Silhouette bullets jacketed and my own cast and gas checked. The cast tested velocity is 1370 fps with this load...burns clean also... In 357 I also cast a 180 grain Silhouette that when loaded seated in its cannelure ( COL is 1.660") and is too long for lever rifles and some wheel guns. However it works well from my Model 19 making 1320 fps. The same 180 grain bullet in 38 Spl does 950 fps from the Model 10 While some powders can produce more velocity, Blue Dot has worked in so many different cartridges and shotgun shells for me.
Back in the mid 80s I bought a Dan Wesson .357 mod. 715 w/6" barrel. It has the full top rib and it is still my favorite wheel gun. I have several others and like them all especially my Ruger Super Single 6 .22/22mag and .357. I enjoy single actions as well as DAs. When it comes to semi-autos you can't beat burning up piles of .45 acp in 1911s.
Cool video, love the slowmos! For a wheelgun I've only got a 686-1 but I love it to bits. We're limited to 5 firearms in total as sport shooters here in the Netherlands so tough choices need to be made... If budget were the only constraint I'm sure some other makes/models would reside in my safe too!
Variety is the Spice of Life. 2) GP-100's w/ a 4" & 6" barrels 1) Redhawk 4", 44 Mag 1) SP-101 in 357 Mag. snubby and a LCR in 357. My first revolver, a Colt Diamondback and last but not least a Smith Mod. 29-2
Gavin have you shot a freedom arms revolver yet ? You will fall in love with them ! I love the jeep in the video I had a 85 cj7 unfortunately it was stolen !!
👍 Nice S&W revolver collection. I like S&W revolvers too, especially 357& 44 magnums.I think you should get a vintage 357 or 44 magnum to go along with that 38. Perhaps a model 27 or 29?
Hi Gavin, I own two revolvers. One old Colt Cobra, extended ejector rod and a S&W 686 4" with a nice rounded Nill Grip. I bought the COlt for exact same reason as the snubnose in your vid. The 686 is my sidgun when hunting boar with my dogs, in case of taking the final shot on a wounded one, when the dogs are nearby. No place for a singleaction when struggling throu thick brush after a liverish boar who wants to slice up your pants. Sorry you guys from the SAA party, but I had a Freedom Arms .454 Casull for this purpose and sold it. A great hunting gun for a placed shot, very accurate but not for me, when thing are getting a bit nasty at close range. But to be honest, I´m thinking of a .44 Magnum. It has a lot more knockdown power. But here in Germany a hunter is limited to two handguns by law. (what is not regulated here?) I don't know which one I should sell. The 686 has been overworked. Timing and trigger are perfect. And the Colt is in mint condition. I handload for all my guns. All the very best for you all, greetings from Germany.
Oh boy, I've got a few Smith wheel guns too... Model 586-? in 4 inch Model 19-6 in 2 inch Model 19-3 in 6 inch Model 29-10 (Classic) in 4 inch Model 500 in 4 inch I hand load for all of them, except the 500. They are all my favorite for a different reason. But if I had to pick one, I would say the Model 29-10, 44 Mag, in 4 inch would be my overall favorite. Mainly because it's a 44 Mag, 4 inch, and has a beautiful blue finish. I changed out the grips for old school S&W target grips. She's a beauty! The 500 is a favorite because when I go to the range and start shooting, everyone else stops. I just smile and let 'er rip for a few cylinders, then put her away! lol
The original DW 44 mags are hard to come by, but their reputation on the target and silhouette ranges are the reasons to find one. You would really appreciate the DW VH8" in 44 mag. Nothing like it when your wife steps up to the line with a full house silhouette load and all the macho 357 guys shrink and stop shooting to watch while she cleans the row of rifle gongs at 200 yards. The sets with multiple bbl lengths from 2" to 10" were spectacular. I hear CZ started producing the 357 versions again, but not the 357 Max or the 44. Pity.
I enjoyed this very much, I am also a fan of Smith and Wesson. A couple I have that I think you might enjoy if you can find them - 1. 45 long colt with 6" barrel. 2. 38 special World war two victory model, nicknamed because the serial number starts with V, parkerised with wood grips.
My favorite wheel gun was my Model 29 I had about 20 years ago. Should never have gotten rid of it, now I want another one. Blued 6 inch beauty. I still have the RCBS 3 die set as well as brass, primers, some Winchester 296 (that is still good) and about 400 Magnus 240 gn SWC lead projectiles! I need to go ahead and reload them just for motivation to find a replacement model 29. The only revolver I currently own is a GP100. Will be looking for another Model 29 and would also like to have a 38 snubbie or police special. A nice 45LC single action would be the only other wheel gun I would like to have, I think. Never can have too many.......
Big smith fan myself, favorite is my 686, it shoots lights out and takes my full house loads like a champ. My first revolver was a Taurus and the barrel was not aligned from factory. Now I'm waiting on a 329pd I have on order!!
Love S&W's. Good design and engineering across all frames. Always easy to tweak and work on when one has been less than properly handled. I greatly appreciate the significance and collectible nature of other brands but nothing says "duty use" like S&W's. New, vintage, or antique - you can always find S&W's worth collecting for any niche you want to focus on. I never feel bad shooting a LNIB 3" 32 Hand-Ejector from 1919 every once in a while as long as it gets a gentle wipe-down afterwards. Some collectibles really shouldn't be fired but if it already has a turn-ring it is fair game in my opinion.
My favorite is a coly python, blued, 8 inch full lug barrel in .357 magnum. My dad traded a Remington 11-48 in 28 gauge for it. Both parties made a good deal. they have both become collectable.
I have a bunch of revolvers. Most I bought in the 1970s -- except the S&W R8 PC I bought to celebrate the Heller decision, lol. They're all S&W except my two Colt pythons. I do prefer S&W triggers over Colt triggers. My python's triggers are smooth as glass, but they still "stack." The first handgun I ever bought (when I turned 21 and got my first carry permit, in 1974) was a S&W 19 with 2 1/2" barrel -- in nickel. Still have it. Still runs PERFECTLY. Still gets "oohs and ahhs" from most who see it.
I own and work on all makes of revolvers. Im a revolver nut! By far the best I’ve owned thus far is the custom shop ruger SUPER GP100. I haven’t touched anything in the action (yet) and can hit all 8 rounds with factory loaded 158gr jacketed hollow point blazer brass at 100 yard steel off a bag at my range! Take a second look at the new Ruger tension barrel it has dan wesson accuracy and more reliable ignitions than the regular gp100 (smaller frame) imo. I do love your doing revolver videos FINALLY! I love it!
Love my Ruger and Smith&Wesson revolvers and reload most of my centerfire revolver cartridges. For the .327 Federal Magnum, I have the LCR, SP101 3", GP100 4" and Single Seven 5.5". For those revolvers I reload the .327, and for my recoil sensitive lady friends I load 32 long and .32 short. For the .357 I have the Security Six 6" (my very first handgun), GP100 3", GP100 6", GP100 Match Champion 6", S&W PC 327 2", S&W PC 327 TR8 5". For those revolvers I reload the 357 and the 38 Special, and I like your idea of loading your 38 Special loads directly into the 357 cases to avoid the cylinder fouling -excellent tip! For my .41 magnum I have the Redhawk 4.2" and the Super Blackhawk Bisley 6.5". For those revolvers I reload the .41 Magnum and the .41 Special. For the .44 I have the GP100 .44 Special 3", Super Redhawk .44 magnum 6.5", S&W PC 329 4". For those revolvers I reload the 44 Special and the 44 Magnum. My latest revolver purchase is the S&W PC 460 XVR 8" and I need to order my 460 dies. I am ashamed that my S&W revolvers have those obscene Hillary Holes. I also own a bunch of 22 LR & 22 Magnum revolvers by Ruger and S&W. Thanks for the video.
Nice collection. Had a 686 I wish I didn’t sell back in the 80’s. Have since had a Ruger go 100 in 6” I use for deer and at home for two legged predators. Also had to add a sa bearcat in .22lr
Great video, and good content behind your choices. Some future revolvers to consider; and yes I recommend them since I have them! 625 in 5”, model of 1988 or 1989. Older gun but still available in the second hand markets. Excellent balance over the 4” model JM or PC. Moon clipped .45acp. I’ve shot from bullseye centerfire category, to steel challenge, and bowling pins. Very versatile for any of those, and more. Drilled and tapped, and can adapt a scope, or iron sights have a good sight radius with the slightly longer barrel. 610 in 10mm. Once a rarity, they are back in production with a 4” and 6” barrel choice. I have the older version, unfluted cylinder in 6”. My go to gun for bowling pins, as it strikes with authority and deadly accurate. Full under lug gives it good weight against the recoil, which is not as snappy as some would think. Also moon clipped, you can step down to run 40S&W rounds in the same chamber. A unique choice to compliment the characteristics of the 10mm cartridge. 929 PC in either the full barrel 6” or the snub nosed 986 PC2” barrel. Yes, 9mm in a revolver. Why? I say why not! If ammo is hard to find, or becomes a cost factor, you can pretty well expect that 9MM is common. Many competitors have run .38 short colts in their 686 or 627 guns in 357 chambers for a super light recoiling option. The 9mm gives you the same thing with super fast reloads on moon clipped rounds due to the short OAL of the cartridge for speed shooting. And with an 8 shot cylinder, it is a bonus over the standard 6 shots everyone is accustomed to find in a wheelgun. The one downside I see is the long barrel on the Jerry Miculek branded PC. A friend of mine lopped off an inch and recrowned his at 5” and it’s a great balance compromise. I absolutely love the 2” model 986. While it is big for a EDC choice, I wouldn’t mind lugging it around. 7 shots and frame that fits naturally with larger hands. With 147gr loads, the recoil is not noticeable and very manageable. Adjustable sights round out this gun for a broad range of target distances.
If you ever get a chance to shoot a S&W Model 624 44 spl, take it! It was my first wheel gun, and every time I bring friends over to shoot, they fight over it. It's that fun. Also, if you want to try a really good single six, try the old version Ruger Vaquero in 45 Long Colt. The older version utilized the Blackhawk frame and is heavier and can handle rounds of nearly Mag. strength. Love the video. I'm a nut for wheel guns!
For the Red Dot, I use the Burris (300234) Fastfire III with 3 MOA Sight. It's lower to the barrel centerline and still easy to see and for reasonable $. I like it over the RMR.
I carry ruger red hawk 44 for hunting and I have a vortex venom on it. I also have Smith 6” in 41mag. 41 Smith was my first big bore wheel gun I love it. Killed a bear with in 2014.
So far mine are all Rugers. GP100, Blackhawk in 45 colt/45 acp, and the Super Blackhawk Hunter in 44 mag. As a hand loader I am especially fond of how over built they are. Not only do I enjoy the extra safety factor, I occasionally love to play in the "Ruger ONLY" section of my reloading manuals.
I have always had a fetish for the fixed sighted N frames, especially the non magnums with the slender profile barrels. There is just something about the way they balance and feel in the hand. One of the finest I ever owned was a surplus 1937 Brazilian contract model 1917. The one I had was well worn and not very pretty, but had an amazing trigger and with plain old 230 gr UMC FMJ printed amazing groups.
If you like vortex or want to stick with that for that gun, go from that crossfire to the Venom or Viper dots. My personal favorite would be the Holosun 507 give that a check out you might like it.
S&W and Colt guy here, agree with others you need a SSA. I have one in .22 LR, .38 and .45 LC. I love a nice J-frame and the Masterpiece guns. I love the Colt Serpent guns.
Very well said , i stand with you as my collection is all S&W revolvers except for the two single action revolvers.. The 617 in 4" is my newest model and it is wonderful very accurate 10 shot model i just can't get enough range time with this one .. , the fine model 19 (my EDC ) in , and after that came the model 586 love that revolver every feature about this revolver i like , in 4" i shoot it in IDPA , and to top it off for now the Classic Hunter 629 in .44 mag in 6", love that model .. .. The really difficult thing for me is which models do i take to the range today?? Now that is not an easy choice to make .. I agree with you as i know 3 shooters now that owned Tarus that produced trouble deep enough to send them back to the factory, not once but three times . I mean brand new cases split on the first firing , 4 drillings out of 6 , i tried one cylinder full of my loads and it split 4 of my cases .. Ya for a brand new revolver that cylinder is bored way oversize ..Worse when he got the gun back in two months , as now it has a new problem now it spits out of the right side during firing , way out of time ..Not me, i won't touch anything like that ..Glad you made that video , well done ..
Try a Ruger Blackhawk Model 0472. The ergonomics of the Bisley style grips are great. Two cylinders to shoot 45 Colt and 45 ACP. Its a great way to try single action with a pretty versatile platform. Built stout! Most loading manuals give you load data for 45 colt and then additional load data specifically for the Blackhawk and the T/C .
If you love super fine revolver triggers, you should definitely try a Dan Wesson. I have two. A 15 2VH in 357 Mag with a 2" and 6" barrel in blue, and a 357 Supermag in stainless with an 8" barrel. I used to compete in IMHSA with both, but the Supermag was the best. The triggers on both are ridiculous.
A revolver build would be great Gavin but please look into Form 1 suppressors.. the wait time is about a month and with all your equipment you’d be able to make something awesome!
Single action, don't like the grip? Checkout Ruger's Bisley framed models. Triggers are easily worked and Wolff spring kits are everywhere. The 44 Special (obviously) is my favorite.
I have two revolvers. A S&W 629 Classic 6,5" and a Freedom Arms Mod 97 in .357Mag. I love the Smith. It's very accurate and i shot over 18.000 rounds with no major problems. But in terms of quality and finishing the Smith doesn't even come close to the Freedom Arms. Of course the FA is much more expensive. But it's worth it. And when you have the chance to check out and shoot a Club 30 Smith & Wesson, use it. Your videos are great. Greetings from Germany. 🇩🇪
Great video. I love all those guns. The 38 special was a pleasant surprise. I'd like to see a 357 mag build with an 8 inch barrel. Whether you throw a nice red dot on it or just use irons, that gun would shoot like a dream. I know you could get some nice results from hand loading, especially out of the 8 inch barrel. I love what you're doing. Keep it up. - Big Al
Hey, I'm just about to start reloading for my 357/38 and would love some of your 38load data for your 357 rounds. Just breaking in a Dillon XL750 doing 9mm mainly but have just bought a Taurus tracker with 357 and 9mm cylinders. Not interested in big loads just wanting to enjoy shooting the 357. Any info would be great. And yes, you have now talked me into getting a Smith and Wesson 👍 Cheers Lindsay from Australia
My Smith 15-2 was an issued revolver, has a rack number on it. They don’t make them that smooth anymore. You need a 65-1, 2 or 3 so you can make it DA only. The action can be smooth and reliable. Preferably a 2 or 3 inch barrel. You’d enjoy it.
Thanks for the videos! When loading 38 special loads in 357 brass, are you concerned at all about excessive empty space in the case? Not in terms of eliminating double charges but rather the possibility of detonation of powder given all the empty space. Love to hear your thoughts as it pertains to this or any lightly loaded case. Thanks!
I too Love revolvers and have Colts, S&Ws and a Ruger in Just about all the traditional center fire calibers. I am a caster and reloader, most revolvers are 6 inch and most reloading is done on old Star reloaders. Wonderful, wonderful hobby. You should try one of the new production model 57s they are excellent firearms.
I have 8 Smith and Wessons and 2 Rugers. I like both but to me the Smiths are better shooters. More accurate better triggers. But the Rugers do look a little more solidly built but I don't know if they are. Cast vs forged. I also think the 44 is one of the most versatile cartridges.
My father's colt python is my favorite I have a smith and a uberti love them both in different ways Smith is by far best money spent in today's class of revolvers
Hey Gavin, great video, thank you. Wheel guns rock ! No self respecting wheel gunner has a complete collection without the best ever made, the Colt Python - magnificent. You could also add a S&W Performance Centre 460 XVR - Awesome hunting revolver. Look at a Delta Optical Mini Dot sight for your 44M. I have one on my Ruger Super Redhawk. It is compact, and can handle the recoil. Cheers
nice video on the wheel guns! i enjoy a few of them also. as you mentioned, i carry a 329PD for back country and would like to develop some loads for the task. i hope you will take a look at less potent practice loads for this gun, since lots of practice is needed for this narrow purpose hand cannon. i shooy 240factory but it is not working as planned since my carry load for back woods is the GARRETT DEFENDER 310 HAMMERHEAD HARD CAST at about 1020 FPS out of this beast. if you have a notion, i think a lot of guys would love to see your expertise applied to a 44/310 practice load and a GARRETT duplicate round. PLEASE?? i do work with a 10MM and a 45 SUPER , both built on GLOCK 21 setups with after market barrels from KKM. nice also, but i am a revolver guy at heart and it's hard to beat a sub 26 oz 44. thanks
You spoke of a "wheelgun" build. Something I have been considering since building some long range precision hunting rifles on my PM-13x40. I am considering an octagon barrel, strait taper with muzzle break in .44 mag on an sacrificial N Frame. .45 Colt as I mentioned in my other comment would do also. Trying to find the "sacrificial" N frame is the tuff part...$$$$.
Your next S&W should be a Model 610 (10mm). Versatile (can also shoot 40 S&W) and fast reloads with the moon clips. Mt favorite Smith. When you try Dan Wesson, look for a Model 40, 357 Maximum. For a handloader, more versatile than 357 mag. JMHO.
I'm A fan of the 45 calibers, great for reloaders and versatility. a 460sw can shoot 454 cassull and 45 colt, also the .32s Smith hasn't delved into them a lot, I wish they would more, (they have only made a couple and are pretty rare) but if you love handloading a ruger single seven in 327 fed mag can shoot, 32 hr mag, 32 long, 32 short, as well as 32 acp since its semi rimmed (I have not tried that one, I have heard of reliability issues) either way that gun is a reloaders dream come true, energy values that are similar to .22 LR all the way up to knocking on the door of 357 mag.
I found a used s&w 65-3 with 4 in barrel at a local gun shop, that I couldn't live without! I'm reloading 125 & 158 gr plated bullets for it at the moment. I also just picked up the Hornady LnL AP a week ago after much research and consideration. I'm still using my Lee classic 4 hole turret for a few different rifle rounds tho. I've found the Lee turret to be an excellent press.! You can't beat the Hornady progressive for the speed of bulk pistol ammo. And living in CA the ammo background check is total garbage. We almost had it beat... Thanks 9th circuit 😫..
Love wheel guns, but favor Colt. Single actions are also fun. You may want to try the Ruger Blackhawk, Little bigger grip and Ruger is stronger if you want to have fun with hot loads. I have .44 mag and .45 Colt. Double action revolvers a .38 detective special and Colt Mark III in .357 mag. I load for all of them on a RCBS Rockchucker. I find that even with the double action revolvers I do better coking it first rather that double action. I enjoy revolvers more than semi-auto but I have a couple of those as well.
EXCELLENT Video my friend! "Smith & Wesson" is GOD!! Model 29 "N Frame" is mt ALL time favorite! I owned 2 Model 29's. A 6 1/2" and a 8 3/8"........then divorce. Now "Subbed"! Patrick BTW: AWESOME COLLECTION!!!!
I have shied away from S&W, mainly because, like Harley, they have way too many confusing model numbers. I remember shooting a Colt Python with target loads at steel pigs at 50 yards. Mowed them down in no time flat. Many years ago I picked up a TC Contender with the 8" octagon barrel in 44mag. Holy Moly! Traded it off for a .22 barrel. :^). I eventually ended up with a 14" bull barrel in 44 mag. At one point I toyed with Cowboy Fast Draw and got a colt replica in 45 Colt. Had a local shooter do an action job on it (factory action felt like they left some sandpaper in there somewhere - it was not pleasant). Oh man, it feels like he installed needle bearings everywhere! Single action or double action; for a collection at some point you should add at least one single action gun. But for a different brand (and horse!) take a good look at the Chiappa Rhino. I have never shot one, and their pricing has gone beyond what I'm willing to pay now - but I think it is very interesting. For something a bit more traditional, see if you can source an old Colt 38 Special Bullseye gun. Especially if it has been converted to single action only. It won't scratch your big recoil itch, but they can drill holes.
The only wheel gun that fits my hand (I have a cut off trigger finger) is the EAA Windicator. The handles on most revolvers are to far back so I can't reach the trigger... But I'm not a major fan of wheel guns anyway, I just have one cuz I don't think a collection is complete without one. I do like the S&W Performance Center 627 and 327 having 8 round cylinders and they look like they might fit my hand, haven't found one to try yet.
I notice that the 629 6" that is 'iron bonded' didn't have the flames coming out of the sides like on the other slomo shots and that you would expect from a revolved. Can you comment on that? Seems that the gap is very tight between the cylinder and the barrel.
If you get a Ruger single action find a 3 screw. The new ones just don’t feel right without half-cock and just opening the ejection door to load/unload. Favorite revolver is a long barrel Single Six three screw. In a time of open dumps no glass bottle was safe.
Gavin, you need to get your hands on a Smith 25-2 or 25-5 four inch. You would have a blast loading and shooting .45 Long Colt. The Smiths can't take the punishment the Rugers (Redhawk double action) can but you can get close before you rattle them apart. I seem to shot the 25"s better than the Rugers but that may be a Freudian thing.
Gavin your right. I have a S&M 500 with 4” barrel and the trigger is AMAZING
Bro i dont understand the dislikes of any of your videos other than hater competition. Any I always appreciate the info you share with us for FREE
Lou thanks Lou!!!!
I also love my 686-6 , there's just something about a wheel gun. You need to add a model 57 in 41 magnum to your lineup.
I went grouse hunting in Montana a few years/ ago. And I carried my ruger super blackhawk with me the whole week
I have 3 Rugers, 3 Smiths.
Equal Opportunity Employer.
Add a couple of Colts and I'm with you.
Great taste Gavin Great Taste 😁 One day I will be able to add a Mountain Gun to my collection, that's my holy grail.
Great video!
I'm with you on S&W. Mine are mostly Smiths, two Rugers, one Cimarron, and a Colt King Cobra, Gen. 1.
Given you love of wheel guns, you need to shoot/own a single action.
Love my 629 S&W accurate gun, I hand load for it as well.
I am a Ruger, but own Smith so I understand. My favorite is a 4” GP100 I found in a pawn shop with a non stacking, buttery trigger.
The same 180 grain bullet in 38 Spl does 950 fps from the Model 10
While some powders can produce more velocity, Blue Dot has worked in so many different cartridges and shotgun shells for me.
Wade Landeche Awesome stuff Wade! Love the 29s :)
Great video,
Love my smith and wesson 586 4" 686 plus 4" and my 629 6.5" talo deluxe all have beautiful wood grips
460 Smith and Wesson!👍😎
Love revolvers, one of the first calibers I ever loaded for was .357 when I was 14. Nice video.
Anyone mentions "great revolvers" and doesn't include Freedom Arms they are still learning about revolvers...that's okay. ;)
Fair enough though, you are showing of your revolver collection and it's a great collection.
👍 Nice S&W revolver collection. I like S&W revolvers too, especially 357& 44 magnums.I think you should get a vintage 357 or 44 magnum to go along with that 38. Perhaps a model 27 or 29?
Python! Looks and quality.
Model 586-? in 4 inch
Model 19-6 in 2 inch
Model 19-3 in 6 inch
Model 29-10 (Classic) in 4 inch
Model 500 in 4 inch
I hand load for all of them, except the 500. I just smile and let 'er rip for a few cylinders, then put her away! lol
mariodesmo nice collection!
I have a 4 inch stainless 357model 620 that is a beautiful shooter.
Love my Smith and Wesson revolvers! The 627 5" 8 shot is my favorite. 629DX is second favorite.
Some snappers, their. I love'm too. But I like Rugers too.
Pity.
0:13 Daaaang. Look at those working-person arms 💪🏽. Nice recoil management.
I liked the intro, wow the flames !
I learned to shoot on a hammerless 38 special. If you can shoot that well, you can shoot anything.
Smith 686, 1st wheel gun. Favorite!
I have 45 wheel guns and the ones that I've had the most trouble with is S&W . Ruger and Taurus absolutely no trouble.
I love it!
For the 929 optic there is a BMT Kick Stand mount, that mounts a Cmore sight sideways to lower sight plane
I was loading 357 magnum cases with 148 grain wad cutters for my Python 🐍 40 years ago
I miss my Python. I should never have sold it back in the 90's.
642, 617-6, 586 no dash, 686 no dash, 686-1, 686-4, 629-8, and model 28-2 😃
I do have an idea: 460V it’s the one missing there! I love the Stealth Hunter. Really smooth shooter.
22LR revolver?
For the Red Dot, I use the
Burris (300234) Fastfire III with 3 MOA Sight. It's lower to the barrel centerline and still easy to see and for reasonable $. I like it over the RMR.
Fav double action is a S&W 686 PC. I have several single actions the I love shooting, I used to use them in Cowboy action.
When you reload the 357 but at 38 special loads are you using the same powder but less of a charge or a different powder?
Try a Ruger Blackhawk Model 0472. The ergonomics of the Bisley style grips are great. Two cylinders to shoot 45 Colt and 45 ACP. Its a great way to try single action with a pretty versatile platform. Built stout! Most loading manuals give you load data for 45 colt and then additional load data specifically for the Blackhawk and the T/C .
Hi what do you think about the symmetrical Barrel to frame alignment issues My s&w all are off just enuff to annoy me but the triggers make up for it
Do the build video start to finish please.
And yes, you have now talked me into getting a Smith and Wesson 👍
Cheers Lindsay from Australia
Lindsay Nelson me too. Small pistol or magnum primer?
My Smith 15-2 was an issued revolver, has a rack number on it. They don’t make them that smooth anymore. You need a 65-1, 2 or 3 so you can make it DA only. The action can be smooth and reliable. Preferably a 2 or 3 inch barrel. You’d enjoy it.
Yur wheel gun is on fire~!!!
Check out Vortex venom on the red dot it is nice i just got a performance center magnum hunter looking forward to shooting it
My father's colt python is my favorite I have a smith and a uberti love them both in different ways Smith is by far best money spent in today's class of revolvers
Get a K frame. Shooting them in 38 special is pure pleasure.
JMHO.
Bill Blanchard love it!
You'd love Gary Reeders custom Ruger hand guns out of Flagstaff AZ. Very smooth actions and triggers.
Be sure to check out Korth, they’re partnered with nighthawk customs now.
You really should try a ruger single action! Talk about a sweet trigger!
I have - the ergos are HORRIBLE for my hands :)
Love wheel guns, but favor Colt. Single actions are also fun. You may want to try the Ruger Blackhawk, Little bigger grip and
Ruger is stronger if you want to have fun with hot loads.
Patrick
BTW: AWESOME COLLECTION!!!!
You definitely need to get models 36, 29 with 6" barrel and 19 with 4" barrel. With hammer mounted firing pins of course.

Where you send that revolver off for Ionbonding?
