Double Fatality Hyde Park House Fire / LAFD / Part 2 of 2

4-7-2016 L.A. Firefighters, Task Force 94, Task Force 66, Battalion 13 first on scene at 4245 West 62nd Street in Hyde Park reported a one and two story house with heavy fire showing. Two additional Task Forces were immediately requested on top of the original assignment. Firefighters quickly laid lines, attacking the fire in the rear of the two story add-on, inside and out. Firefighters also went to work protecting the exposures on both sides. Access to the fully involved structure was limited. The main bulk of fire was knocked down in an hours time. Two persons, a man and woman, reportedly perished in the fire. An elderly 80 year old man who reportedly jumped from the house was transported to a local area hospital via paramedics. L.A. County Fire assisted on scene. Damage was extensive. Arson is investigating the tragic greater alarm late night blaze. - MNR -

A former firefighter for 21 years, and I don't think I've ever seen as many leaking and holed hoses than what LA and LA County FD uses.

According to another report on this fire the victims were a mother and son. The son went back in to try and save his mother and they couldn't get out.

In 2014 , 3,275 people dies in fires in the United States . As of today , 810 people have died .

+iluvmusic62 10-4. That's one of the reasons we can't forget that Firefighting is a dangerous profession. Fire controlled is useful, out of control, very dangerous.
