    There is just something blissfully peaceful about watching concrete being poured, worked, just the craft that goes into something that NO ONE in the actual world ever thinks about. I first stood in awe on one of my first construction projects, I stood in amazment as my coworkers just sauntered passed. Love it. Oh yeah, paused the video to make this comment, so I'm gonna go back to watching haha.

    I can't begin to tell you how very impressed I am with your passion for quality. There can't be more than a handful of contractors in the whole country that perform at your level. In this world of "that's close enough" it is so refreshing to see some one who actually gives a shit about the quality of the finished product. RESPECT!!!!!!

      Gord Beneteau This guy is truly awesome at what he does, but There are alot of great contractors out there, Ive met some that were ARTISANS at what they do. This is America, men with high-skill and integrity are out there you just have to find them. For most contractors , it is always a bad financial choice to do shitty work. But yeah, This video kicks ass lol I wish I had room in my backyard for a shop like this

My only regret is I didn't do the heated floor. (eastern kansas) I like the lean to on the side of your project here. Lean to's are great for keeping equipment out of the sun and rain.

  • @wvrockcrusher

    Very nice shop! I really like the lean-to on both sides with an office space because that makes it so much more useful and versatile. A lean-to also keeps bigger things that can be stored outside the shop walls from taking up valuable floor space. Can't go wrong with in-floor radiant heat even if you don't use it right away, it will be there. We did the same in our shop and it was a year or so until the boiler was installed but, no regrets on radiant heat.....it is wonderful! Your attention to detail is top notch and makes all the difference with a build like this. The color choices are a slam dunk and the owner seemed to know what he wanted in a building, which helps too. Great job!

    • @forry100
      @forry100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very surprised they only did half the shop with floor heat. We have had it over 20 yrs at our farm shop, love it. Neighbor build a shop, but cut out the floor heat because of the cost of the boiler. First winter he was in his shop and ours has regretted that he did not at least install the pex piping and worry about the boiler and operation later. Have another neighbor that installed it in their wash bay to melt ice, swears we are lying when we claim we only use the floor heat. My old house will have floor heat when we remodel it.

    • @wvrockcrusher
      @wvrockcrusher 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In-floor radiant is no joke! No regrets here at all. I do suggest a floor sensing thermostat as a must and don't skimp on the insulation under the floor or otherwise, just use common sense. Floor heat is all we use in our 50x70 shop with 14' ceilings and a second floor level and I can tell you it is more than enough heat even at sub-zero temps. No dust blowing around or some noisy furnace to listen to all the time either which is a plus.

    • @forry100
      @forry100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wvrockcrusher we insulated under our floor. Building shell by Morton, but we did all the finish work. At my home I plan to heat the approach to my garage and the front porch and walk to the parking area. A farmer an hour away heated his outside pad and has done well with it. Of course not on all the time, only when needed a few times through out the winter.

    Being as it's been almost a year since this was first posted, I'm sure somebody has told you this, but in case nobody has. The slump of the concrete is how much water is mixed into it. A 5 inch is about mid range. A 1 inch slump is very dry and tight, a 12 inch slump is very wet and loose. Just in case you didn't know, now you do.

If I built that in my area of Illinois, the taxes would be so high that I’d be paying for the property all over again in just a few years.....and now they’re going to want to raise property taxes again statewide to make up for what they’ve already stolen from us through mismanagement in the past.

    Love the series can not wait for the next one, it’ll be great to see the building full and how the customer uses it.

    Thats a very nice building. Also very unusual to put the concrete floor, after the building is up. I have a similar concrete floor in my building but the builder added fiberglass to the mix to make it super strong. After 10 years of heavy use, not a crack or chip.

      I do concrete for work and usually with radiant heat you pour after the structure is up. Most of our pours with buildings with high ceilings get poured after the building is up.

      All of our fire stations had their floor poured after the building was up. I bet it really helps the concrete cure nicely to withstand decades of 50k lb vehicles driving over it.

      it's really fun, but has a high usage cost compared to other means of heating.
