Strengthening capacity for O&M with IoT technologies for Olkaria geothermal power station in Kenya

The project was formulated under the umbrella of the UNIDO Programme titled ”Generating energy capacity from geothermal power generation and its related technologies for sustainable development” funded by the Government of Japan, with an objective to strengthen operation and maintenance capacity adopting Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for KenGen’s Olkaria complex. The project successfully demonstrated the deployment of IoT technologies at Olkaria geothermal power plant to improve the efficiency of geothermal electricity production. The installed technology allows KenGen who is the project beneficiary to remotely monitor and manage the energy production in real time making the plants’ operation safer and more efficient.
