Coming soon: Part 6: how to create custom 'building block' drones and pads. Part 7: applying the principles of movement to a synth patch in Serum. Part 8: editing, layering, processing.
Interesting. I'm used to designing straight onto the timeline. Using phase plant is pretty interesting though I'm sure it makes it easier to draw precise envelopes.
'Getting out of the timeline' is one of the most liberating things you can learn as a sound designer! Messing around with synths, samplers and effect chains is a cool way to quickly create a decent variety of potential layers. You then have more options when you get back to editing/layering in context in the timeline. Paradoxically, I think it's a faster way to sound design (because you then make decisions faster with better options). And you build your own personal libraries really quickly. More on this in Part 8 of this workshop (soon!) And yes, as you wrote, it's easier to really precisely tweak your envelopes to get defined dynamic shapes 😄

Great stuff! Glad you are putting out more.
Great channel! The tweaking part actually sound like sfx sounds lol. Crazy stuff, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words!
I am impressed. Definitely going to look deeper into phaseplant
Thank you for the kind words! And yes, Phase Plant is an absolute beast 😄
