I started learning Spanish as a hobby over the pandemic and through that I found Charly Garcia. Discovering his music has been incredibly important for me .

You may feel sad for not understanding the lyrics now, but IMO it's a blessing. It took me years to learn Spanish well enough to understand the lyricism of Charly and due to the insane yo-yoing depth of his metaphors, as a foreigner to the language, I never stop being impressed and taken aback, making me realise all over again just what this man has done for the world. There's a reason why he's treated like a God in Latin America. Charly will blow your mind many more times. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey into that world which many know, but few can bare to see. Hit me up if you ever want translations of his songs.

Particularly, it narrates the story of a boy getting hit whiles he is laying on the floor by several men of the government in a club. It is truly meaningful for argentines because it recreates perfectly the atmosphere of that times, when you could be taken away and get killed out of nowhere. Glad that you enjoyed it!

Pedro Aznar is also an excellent singer. With Charly recorded 2 discs: 'Tango' and 'Tango 4'. This last one is the best, that includes an spanish version of Beach Boys's God only knows' and a original song called 'Tu amor' (Your love), which I absolutely recomend you todo listen

It was called "Pecado Mortal" (Original Sin), but the censorshit changed it to avoid any backlash from a society that was leaving a dictatorship. -They recorded this in NYC, and it was poorly received in Argentina at first time, because everybody was expecting a rocking Charly instead of this poppier, new-wavy guy who cut his hair and used drum machines. Eventually, everyone loved it, and is regarded as one of the best latinamerican records of all time. If you liked this, try the completely different (though is in the same record) "Los Dinosaurios": is a sad song, with lyrics that speak directly to a society that lost a lot of people because of the torture and repression of the dictatorship.

It took me years to learn Spanish well enough to understand the lyricism of Charly and due to the insane yo-yoing depth of his metaphors, as a foreigner to the language, I never stop being impressed and taken aback, making me realise all over again just what this man has done for the world. There's a reason why he's treated like a God in Latin America. Charly will blow your mind many more times. Tio Lucho!!! A couple of fun facts about this masterpiece that you might like:
-The bass is played by Pedro Aznar, bass player of Seru Giran. The dude is a virtuoso, and here he plays a fretless that is sweet as hell.
-The guitar, in a 7/8 time signature, is played by legendary guitar player Larry Carlton.
-The song is about a guy who is dating a underage girl, and therefore he got beaten up. It was called "Pecado Mortal" (Original Sin), but the censorshit changed it to avoid any backlash from a society that was leaving a dictatorship.
-They recorded this in NYC, and it was poorly received in Argentina at first time, because everybody was expecting a rocking Charly instead of this poppier, new-wavy guy who cut his hair and used drum machines. Eventually, everyone loved it, and is regarded as one of the best latinamerican records of all time.
If you liked this, try the completely different (though is in the same record) "Los Dinosaurios": is a sad song, with lyrics that speak directly to a society that lost a lot of people because of the torture and repression of the dictatorship.

cierto,cada cancion es una gema,se nota que sonaba distinto a los que se hacia en esa epoca aca,capaz porque fue grabado en el extranjero.
@@carlosramirez-oh7uk efectivamente, y no porque acá en Argentina no hubiera buen material para grabar pero NY estaba en el top con equipos último modelo, sin ir más lejos, la TR 808 no llevaba mucho de que salió en Estados Unidos y Charly ya contaba con uno para grabar
