You forgot about David (Northern Galloway) 1948-1990, Mr. Macintosh (Chester O'Brien) 1909-1996, Uncle Wally (Bill McCutcheon) 1924-2002, and Tom (Larry Block) 1942-2012. I'm glad Caroll Spinney made it to the 50th Anniversary in November 2019 a month before he died in December.

@@benjaminspinney8718 I remember seeing a clip of he 50th Anniversary special, where if you watch it, Carroll Spinney was seen briefly singing along while being physically aided by the actor who played Luis and a woman who may have been Spinney's wife.
I can say I legitimately miss him as Big Bird because he added such a pathos to the character's personality, but I know all things shall pass.

Northern Calloway - not included here - was brilliant as David.
Very sadly, his mental health began to decline during his time on 'Sesame Street', and this eventually resulted in his having to be dismissed from the show.
In addition to a series of unfortunate legal problems and offences, he had apparently professed his love to Alison Bartlett, who played Gina Jefferson, when he visited her, unannounced, at her high school.
Calloway, after being admitted to a psychiatric institution, following his termination from 'Sesame Street' in 1989, became involved in a violent altercation with a staff physician. He had previously been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, and not long after being re-located to a hospital, following the incident at the institution, he died of Excited Delerium Syndrome.
    He was only 41.
    His story is very heart-breaking.
As a kid, I remember him always having been funny and quirky as David.
I hope he is resting peacefully, and that he has been released from his torment.

You forgot to mention Northern Calloway, who was best known as one of the human characters David from 1971-1989. Unfortunately, the actor himself had a lot of personal demons namely being bipolar. Subsequently, some time after being released from "Sesame Street" he had a lot of legal issues. Unfortunately, Northern died in a psychiatric hospital 8 months after he was committed.

I remember two Jeter episodes in particular that are my favorite: one where he uses a large push broom to brush his hair (Elmo's World: Hair) and the children shouted "THAT'S A BROOM!", and another one (Elmo's World: Plants) where he pours water from a glass on the floor, and a child shouted "Nnnnnooooooo! Having used to watch Sesame Street alot growing up, Michael Earl was literally the only one I didn't know.
If it weren't for the extremely limited background info, I think one should also be done for the performers on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
I know several other contributors besides Rogers himself died after the show ended, including Bill Barker, Carole Switala, Audrey Roth and Don "Mr. Anybody" Franks.
And of course, we all know Don Brockett, Bob Trow, John Reardon and Johnny Costa were gone during the show's years in production, as was the elderly poetry lady Emilie Jacobson.

Sesame Street hasn't been the same since all the original human actors left the series. It should also be noted that the actor who played Luis recently passed away as well. I periodically watch a newer episode of Sesame Street with their new cast, and it might as well be a totally different show. It's a stark and grim reminder that I'm getting older too. Everything and everyone I knew and loved from my past is slipping away from me one-by-one. All those fond memories of Luis, Mr. Hooper, Gordon, and countless others living their idyllic lives on Sesame Street are reduced to memories now. What replaced them is something I just don't identify with. May all the former cast who are no longer with us rest in peace.

Then in the 1980's I watched with my son and he grew up singing songs such as "Rubber Ducky" and learned so much from the show. I also can't identify with the current show.

Jerry Nelson's 1st muppet on Sesame Street was Herbert Birdsfoot in late 1970, then Sherlock Hemlock, then the voice and front half of Snuffy then Count von Count in late 1972. Also: Raul Julia was on one season of Sesame Street but it wasn't the 1st season: it was the third season. You also forgot about Joe Raposo who wrote most of the music on Sesame Street for the 1st 20 seasons, (like "Bein' Green" and "Sing") as well as Northern Calloway who played David. Lastly: Jim Henson died from a rare strep infection and didn't seek help immediately since he was a Christian Scientist who didn't believe in doctors or hospitals, then finally went when he was feeling horrible by which time it was too late.

Jerry Nelson was also Gobo Fraggle, Marjory the Trash Heap and Pa Gorg on "Fraggle Rock."
Also, it is untrue that educational television didn't exist prior to 1969. NET (National Educational Television), the predecessor to PBS, was around as early as the mid-'50s. It wasn't a major part of the popular culture before Sesame Street but it certainly existed. Fact: Sesame Street actually began as an NET show (NET was replaced by PBS in the fall of 1970).

it's a Shame these People are not Around anymore I used to watch this along side Barney the Dinosaur since that was a Guy in a Giant Dinosaur Costume too but these Legends on Sesame Street like Big Bert or Mr. Snuffleupagus are no longer with us and they seemed like Good Friends In and Out of Costume on Set RIP Carroll Spinney and Jerry Nelson yes these were my 2 Favorites on Sesame Street!

    David played by Northern Callaway
David and Maria dated for a couple of seasons then they broke up and Maria married Luis.
Northern passed away around the time of Jim Henson in 1990 IIRC.

I disagree with the first entry. His death was literally the subject of one of the most iconic and memorable episodes in TV history as it introduced a lot of kids to the concept of death. So I think the majority of us knew Will Lee was dead
