I found this video useful for mentioning that you could unscrew the plastic piece on the bottom of the RS-1506 head assembly to get at a noisy 2-4 head selector switch. However, I think a better way to clean the selector switch is to use a "liquid" syringe & fill a small amount of DeoxIt D100L (in a 7.4 ml. bottle) solution into the syringe and put just a few drops of it into the switch. Move the switch back & forth a number of times, put one more drop into the switch and again move it back an forth to clean off oxide build-up. This avoids spraying DeoxIt outside of the switch. My switch is Dead Silent when I move it. This approach also works well for deoxing the volume control and line-level and mike-level pots on the deck.
Thank you. I didn't know where to start. Thanks for sharing something so simple. After you show everything. Great tip. Do you have any more tips related to this reel us1506 technics?
Great Vid..thanks. Any possibility of demonstrating how to tighten/adjust the brakes on a 1506? Read the manual but I shied away when I removed the rear of the deck. I live in Cyprus where reel 2 reel engineers are as rare as hen's teeth; need to do any small repairs myself.
I removed the silver-coloured screws on the headblock of my Technics 1500 (not the RS1500) as shown in your excellent video but cannot gently lift the assembly away. Any suggestions?
If all of the screws are out the headblock is only being held in place by the electrical connector. You may need to gently rock or wiggle the block a bit to free it from that connector.
+Dan “Doc B.” Schmalle After much wiggling, jiggling, and coaxing, I was able to remove the assembly and make the repairs you so clearly describe in your video. Sounds great now. Thank you!
Gary Barclay I had the same issue I did the same thing but before assembling it back I gently sand it with 200 grit sand paper to clean the contacts and believe it or not it did improved the sound 90% i was amazed
Thank you so much! Fixed 1 dead Chanel..
Just did that. And not only I fixed it but improved the sound quality 90%. Great vid
