This is one of the best videos I've ever seen. Learning that crate time is teaching my dog to be calm and happy to be alone knowing its safe in its quarters.

This was the perfect video for me. I was wondering why my dog is never excited to do anything. She is always out and free all the time and I’m always trying to train but seem like I’m not getting anywhere. Loving this information thank you

FYI- Susan Garrett is a Canadian trainer specializing in agility and pet dog training. She is well known in the agility community as a multi time world champion with multiple different dogs. Her training is positive reinforcement / game based with heavy focus on shaping rather than luring when teaching new behaviors. Her programs for agility are EXCELLENT but certainly would not be relevant to french ring/ protection/ bite work sports .. .. . and yes she does have a bit of a wacky personality but we agility folks are a different breed from y'all bite workers... and that's ok!!

This video made my freaking day and it was one of the best confirmation aside that my wife was supposed to be the one to marry me 😜😁!!! My Co Worker criticized me when I told him, I do exactly that. Wake up at 6am..take our Mya (6month old GSD) from her crate to do do her business and a GOOD training session which is her TIME OUT then back in until later that evening for a repeat session!! 2 good sessions a day. EACH time she comes out she is wagging her tail happy go lucky, when she goes into the crate HAPPY GO LUCKY she platz and waits for the next session.

"Having 2 German Shepherds is like having 4 dogs"..... OMG this is so true. I have 3 Czech Shepherds and 2 Malinois and they are all 2-5 months of age. Its like having 20 dogs, my life is insane! I know you'd strongly advise against this, but its what I want. I think I will take some of your advice though, they consume my life and my mind almost completely and I feel like I have no life outside of my dogs. I was wondering though, do you ever let Jasper and Freddy together to play?

I needed that instruction about putting the dog back in the crate. I have a 4 year old that is not well trained. Good dog. Not good discipline. I didn’t want to change her lifestyle while I’m training. Starting now, she will go in her crate. My thing is, how long do you crate them? Training can take months. When do you decide “my dog can hang out in the house, not in the crate, during the day?”
