I think the lollipop paddles are much more interesting than the cheeseboards used for the new paddles. Also, I know the original paddles only have 3 fingers and a thumb which was cute, but when that symbol got carried over to the cheeseboards, it just looks weird.
For Alex, I would suggest making "space" for the winter village sets. If he rearranges the medieval area where the fortress (with snow) is on the right side, he could transition the next space under the airport/hospital as the winter village. 🙂
So I’m watching and one of the ads I got served half way through was a Walmart ad about 25% and saying that’s 25% more to spend on other things. As if saving 25% gives you more money. Tried it with what yall said earlier
Yeah I started collecting the CMFs with series 1, you know back when you felt like a creeper in the Toys R Us feeling up the bags... They where like $2.
The paddles may be a bit large to use as fidget tools while chatting. You may want to just keep them handy in case you have guests. 😂 Great show. I have no Fomo on the sail barge or the gwp. Definitely no SPACE!!! 😬
That's a good idea Alex had to place the modulars on top of the new road. All you probably need to do is to build a curb of some sort next to the road instead.
You could actually use the pieces that normally use as the bottom of candle stick, it will click into the 4 corner of the regular baseplate, so in a way you could then put it on top of those road plate like you want, however you may want to add couple in the middle just to prevent the whole build sacking
I originally didn't think the Art of Chocolate set would be a big seller, but now that I see it as a winter set, I can see a lot of Winter Village collectors making it sell faster. That's why I bought the BDP Winter Chalet from 2 years ago.
We're definitely going to try and get our hands on the Harbourmaster's Office. Might take a break in the next series after spending more than I should have on series 2
1) We canceled the hotel near Legoland Germany and drove back the 7h in the evening instead of 2h drive and 5h next day. The money went straight to the lego factory store in legoland 2) why don't you leave one set of paddles at each house. We can still see them both.
My wife (bless her) is an expert in girl math. She is the type of person to look at a phone that costs $999.99 and look at me and completely seriously say: "it costs $900." I think you gotta keep the old paddles. They are beautiful in their simplicity. Artisan paddles. Also, I thought "that's weird Walmart sells paddles" then I thought "pretty sure those are cheese boards"
Here's a third comment because why not. Alex mentioned the idea of rebuilding the downtown area, and I feel the pain there. I've got to redesign mine as well, and working around the old road plates is kinda really hard. But I had a thought. In a big Lego city, the roads kinda end up as little more than a space between buildings where you display car sets. Imagine how much more \*space*\ there would be if you took the roads out of the downtown area entirely. You've got the trains running through it already, so why does the city need trains AND cars going to the same place. Car traffic can run through underground, and roads leading to downtown can end in parking lots. Plus, less roads equals less pollution, and as a Lego Ambassador you should take the company's side and pretend like you're helping the environment!
Good episode. According to the Brick Fanatic, which updates its retirement list shortly after new releases are announced, The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Sail Barge will both retire in 2026. I use that retirement list to put off buying a wanted set as long as possible in the hopes of losing interest in the set and never getting it at all. 😁
The old paddles are better. Lighter with a dowel means you can spin them faster which is still better than ping pong paddles too. Those heavy paddles will be less lively and less fun.
I will not be buying the sail Barge. One the price and I would like to spend my money on the brick link which is coming out on the 3 of October. So I have to make the call. I also like the new paddles just wish the thumbs where on top and the stickers where on the bottom. Keep up the great work. Do you remember going over to your grand parents house to see their slide show of the trip they went on.
I think next year (2025) Alex will finally cave in and begin MILS plates. He should also join several of the castles together to make larger ones, so his medieval area looks better.
Not a perfect match, but my favorite example of "unearned splurging" is my wife at the grocery store seeing donuts and deciding not to buy them. Thinks about them again and decides not to buy them. Then thinks about them again and thinks "I've said no to these twice. I deserve them now as a reward". All in one grocery trip. But for me, it's realizing I don't owe as much on taxes as an excuse for buying May 4th Star Wars sets.
1:09 Yeah, recording from the radio - or worse, from TV !!! And then, when the weather was fine, you had a Phantom or Starfighter or a Dutch (sorry!) F16 rushing past at low altitude! In the MIDDLE of the recording! Argh!!!
Star Wars sets have definitely fallen victim to increased prices over last year and into the future. Helmets have gone from $60-80. Barge is about $100 overpriced
LoL 😆🤣 pore jasion .alex one tuff cookie jason the more mello one alex the one who like s to leed but you to do blend together. Well in diffrence 😊another great episode guys 😊 👍👍 have yous great weekend alex jason
"Lego releases too many CMFs per year." I agree. Maybe two series a year would be fine. "I prefer when a CMF series is tied together under a single theme." I disagree. I don't mind when they are, because sometimes I can tell at a glance if I want any. (eg. Oh it's Batman themed, I don't want any of this series.) But having the variety of options usually means there's one or two or four that look interesting and I can try to get those ones. Or they're in boxes and I don't want to bother gambling for the ones I want regardless.
Why did you guys make such a big deal of the paper bags and limits on gas vehicles, but not addressing the LEGO statements about switching their plastics to 70% non oil based or more sustainable materials by whatever year? They made a whole statement about it before Brick Slopes I think. I don’t remember if it was during their earnings thing or not.
Same alex i got the old road plates to. 😊👍 Tottaly agree with the miles plate s .i like curved courner s i just build up around the build s .im not fusted with a wider walk parth with how the old. Plates are only bonus with mile s plates are stronger. When picking the build s up .but i just make sure im steedy when holding the normal base plate s . I do have some of the milr s plate for. Walk parth an ddive way arear s an ond road along my beach arear .
😊👍🎥😊👍 dam battery s on camras i have filmed lots an camra stoped filming 😢 its a killa when that happens .i film raw unkut so.if some thing. Bangs in back ground of house mate make a noise or i knock some thing. I hate it or finger hits stop but think i still fiming take 2 take 3 take 4 dam lego set keeped falling over like 15 times 😢trying to film it 😅
LoL 😆🤣 alex new lego t shirf design says i carmed down in my oldder age .from buying set s 😊 at 46 .im trying to feal young. But the knees an back an trying to not look gray haird to quick 😊
Hay guy s 😊 mix tapes oh yes was just. Bumping recording from of my favoret music show. Napstar i put that in some lyric i wrote .jason im all ways trying to kut down on buying lego lol but .i would have to be on a island mile from shops 😊😅 im smart shopper infact. $10.000 gone in half this year ..but it could of been wasted on power bills or thing s i glad i dont have to pay

39:40 Oje... The war of the A.F.o.O.l's I'm not sure if I like the direction this is taking... It starts with paddles and before you know it there is atomic slingshots involved.
Stay with the old paddles, I'm afraid some LEGO might get broken with the new paddles.
Love watching you all planning things out. It's good to see.
Awesome sponsor for this episode! I do miss you guys reading comments and commenting on comments and sometimes ranting with (about?) the comments.
Yeah, the comments is one of my favourite parts of the podcast!
The overall paddles look better but the thumbs look better on the original paddles.

I am the stranger who stole 2 tubs of Alex’s beloved 90s LEGO 😂. I assure you they’re being treated with utter reverence!
I hope you return as a guest to this podcast. Jason please?
Oh man the paddles which was going to be just a quick joke segment on our podcast has turned into a real rumble. 🤣🤣
I followed Dr. Jaabo's Missitall treat for several minutes and I can now finally afford the loaf of bread that my children have cried so much about.
Yeah I started collecting the CMFs with series 1, you know back when you felt like a creeper in the Toys R Us feeling up the bags... They where like $2.
Aren't you glad you don't have to be a creeper anymore? Wait, they had a TRU where you are?
@@tynovel Yes they sure did, 14 years ago. LOL
@@joey_jones wow, what occupies that store space now?
I'm still waiting for a compilation of every time Alex has said SPACE!!! 🌠🌃🌠
The paddles may be a bit large to use as fidget tools while chatting. You may want to just keep them handy in case you have guests. 😂
Great show. I have no Fomo on the sail barge or the gwp. Definitely no SPACE!!! 😬
Why. Why why is everyone flexing the ghostbusters firehouse
Because we can. 💪
It was a surreal and wonderful moment.
It does happen that saving money feels like I now have extra money to spend, but my wife is always there to set me straight!

FIRST thing I saw was the gummy bears. Nice to see it return.

Those paddles look like something O'Bannion would use in Dazed and Confused

Lost City was a lot of fun to build but I definitely think it won't sell out either.
You said it right like baskin robbins

That would be interesting to watch on his channel
I can not stand the new paddles. Turn then back into cutting boards and slice some cheese.
Keep the new paddles so you have some for guests
They’re so cheesy! 😂

I think 3 is a good number of CMFs. Anything more than that and it feels more intense.

I plan to get world of chocolate and two campers. One will be for my daughter and her husband since they go camping a lot.
What are you guys gonna do for the old guy segment next year.
I guess they will replace it with a paddling segment
Alex was on his game today. Jason finally gets a word in at 33:12
make the next paddles out of lego :P
Isn’t this year’s minifigure series just 26 (space) and DnD? Or did 25 with the goat come out 2024 also?
Star Wars sets have definitely fallen victim to increased prices over last year and into the future. Helmets have gone from $60-80. Barge is about $100 overpriced
The thing I worry is the brittle brown issue, did they ever fix that?

My car loan payment has recently ended. I now have $350 every month extra to spend on Lego

those paddles reminded me of my initiation in a collegiate fraternity back in my university days! 🤭🤭🤭
It’s pronounced “prah -lean” oh and the company is still saying New Orleans wrong I will hold on to my convictions with this one. 😂🤣
Don't the new paddles remind you of animal house, you can call that segment thank you sir may I have another
Oh gosh lol 😂 joie cutting yo grass in copying the paddle s thing... Battle of the paddle s.. ha ha har 😅 to funny 😅
I like the old one better, instead of making one like that why not simply get a ping pong paddle? Or even build your own with bricks?

i prefer realistic castle over fantasy castle. stuff like D&D doesn't interest me and neither does the bricklink designer program castle sets
Old paddles for sure.
Old ones.
Old paddles were much better
