This was SO useful, I just managed to swap my 2018 Boxxers using this video. They're so plush now! I couldn't find any instruction docs online anywhere, so this vid was a gem. Thank you!
Sweet dude! I just picked up an older Diamondback DB8 with the same fork on it. If I end up not liking the coil I'll probably be doing the same thing on my channel haha Interested in seeing how it goes. I'll definitely subscribe dude!
Thanks ! I do enjoy being able to add just few pumps of air or turning the ramp up knob and not having to swap springs. To get a change in spring rate.
No, I didn’t have any issues with sinking. You would only need to replace if we’re damaged or due to excessive wear and lack of service. I just did upgrade a 2015 Trek Session for a customer with no issues.
Hey! That is the upgrade I am considering right now. Did the air pressure hold up well in the old stanchion? I am wondering if the spring scratches inside will not be a problem. Cheers!
Yes mine has held fine. However ,I had just replaced my spring side upper tube. It had a bit of wear on the outside when I purchased it used. I would say that I didn't see internal wear on the tube I replaced. You may want to remove your spring and check to see if there are any scratches on the inside before moving forward with the upgrade.
I don’t believe you can keep it 180 on the these models. The newer Boxxer c1 does have a 180 air spring, but don’t think it’s compatible with the older forks.
@@richy84 Yeah I am all air!!! I love the weight savings and it's poppier for jumping. I don't think I would go back to a coil unless I was seriously doing some racing and wanting to keep the wheels planted on the trail.
I would say 40 to 50 psi. You can get running recommendations from RockShox using this link. Just enter your serial number and it should bring up the right info for you. trailhead.rockshox.com/en/
Yes!!!! Head over to RockShox website. Then go to the Trailhead tab. Click on it and enter your serial number. It will give you a list off all the documents and upgrades available for your fork.

Awesome, I am so glad I could help! These forks are amazing and can last forever if you keep up the maintenance on them.
Dang didn’t know this was an option. If I still have the trek I’d be interested in trying this kit out.
Well, we can always upgrade the next bike. Heal up soon buddy.

Did you have any issues with the fork sinking? I've heard that the stanchion needs to be replaced if switching to air?

@@BMXPete Thanks! Will check and see how it looks.
Hello
What is the part number for that upgrade
I am out of town right now. I’ll check when I get back to town.
I’m looking to do this to my 180mm 2015 boxxer. Do you know how mine is lowered and off I’ll be able to keep 180mm if I change to air? Thanks

@@BMXPete thanks for a quick reply. I might still go air and just have it a bit slacker haha. Did you stay air?

@@BMXPete I’ll give it a go :)
Do you know how much PSI to inflate RockShox Boxxer 2014 WC for weight up to 50kg?

I am snapping my fingers and new bike parts are not appearing. What am I doing wrong?!
You must become one with the force.
Your telling me i don’t have to buy a new fork
