i watched a korean live streamer travel all over china across the north to HK，he dont even speak chinese and english 。so i dont think its that difficult
HK is fine, but in China it can definitely get confusing. I’m sure people have different standards! But I get so confused every time I go to Chinese train station. Metro is usually fine, but can take longggg time.

Koreans really have to push themselves to learn Chinese. It's absurd to always have Chinese people trying so hard to be mindful of Koreans and practice Korean everytime a Korean person is present. Yet that Korean person almost always relies on "but Chinese is hard" excuse to get away from speaking not one bit of Chinese, not even the most basic level. Koreans live right next door to China but you never once think it's necessary to learn Chinese? Chinese are bar none the most tolerant people in the world. They would never force foreigners to speak their language nor criticize them for bad pronounciation etc. Most of the time the Chinese in such interaction would force themselves to speak in broken English just so the foreigner can understand. But unfortunately, this act of kindness only pampers foreigners thinking it's not necessary at all to learn the "hard" Chinese language. How about giving them proper respect by practicing your Mandarin when they're around? You're not a child.
Chill dude... she's only a visitor... I would agree that learning local languages is a must if someone wanted to be a resident at that place, wherever it is.
