Dude i live in spain and i pay 170 euro mortgage for a 4 bed 2 bath house with ceiling fans.. you dont have to go to the asshole of the world to live a cheap life. Also spain has free health insurance.
@@edmusick7794 my grandma moved here from the netherlands in the 1970's and my parents decided to move here in 2005. Its ok. If you have a good job you can have a good life. Everything is very cheap here. For example dental work, 180 euros for a crown. Car insurance is cheap too and road tax too.

Hey man, I enjoyed your video and it made me smile. I did pretty much the same thing from 2005-2012, but I kept a little place in Manila. It was a lot newer and cost me $100 per month but was a much similar amount of space. I did spend a little money on some things like a mattress and a toilet seat however and don't regret that a bit. I went back and forth to the US several times a year to earn money while my wife and new son lived there. We were very happy until my wife decided we must be rich and insisted on getting a much bigger house, maids (yes, plural), a car we didn't need at all and of course a place to park it. I was much happier in the little place we started out in, sitting out in front of my house in a folding chair in the morning having coffee, or watching the door to door vendors on bicycles bring around cold beer, hot pork rinds, and even hot corn on the cob for a few pesos. I actually knew my neighbors, because they sat out there with me, and many a night was spent with them having fun and singing. You get used to the roosters pretty quickly as well, and there is nothing quite like collecting fresh mangoes that have just dropped free from the tree in your yard to have for breakfast. I don't think people here in the US realize that in the Philippines, for many, your little house itself is just a place to cook, sleep, crap, and bathe, and you live your life outside and with other people. That was part of the joy in living there, and you very quickly forget about all the material gadgets you though you needed back home. If you are an American with a source of income, you do enjoy the fact that each month you are not faced with a crushing mortgage payment, and have cash to take the family places and do things, or just enjoy the stuff the Phils offer nearly free, like the beaches. I'm glad you found something that works for you. I am curious about your "house rules" on no Facebook, texting, sleeping, etc. That's a joke, right? Cheers!
It's just a getting use to, to me it didn't bother me. When I moved to USA and live close to the railroad tracks, first time I got so scared but after 2 weeks, it didn't bother me, doesn't even woke me up anymore. The train is louder than the rooster and shakes the house a bit.

I have to travel the world lived on 5 continents in many countries and there are tons of places where you can live without a lot of money that are not the Philippines. Although the Philippines has many beautiful woven houses up on stilts that nearly any American could afford. There are entire Resorts that are empty that they need people to live in as well.
Ok people I live one island over from this guy on an island called Leyte and I love it. This guy is definitely SLUMMING it and I would not pay 1,000 pesos a month for that place!! What I do pay for is 5,000 pesos a month which at today's rate is $92 for a TWO BEDROOM HOUSE ACTUALLY ON THE WATER. I have a Fridge, AirCon, running HOT water in the CR, Microwave, Big Screen TV mounted on the wall, Coffee Pot, two beds with ACTUAL MATTRESSES etc. lol. I have a Housemaid AND a Nanny too!! And all that living off my Marine Corps Retirement and VA Disability. I also own a brand new Motorcycle and I just purchased a 2012 Suzuki Van. I put my girlfriend daughter through private school. My Uncle lives here on another island and so does my best friend so I travel every other month. YES YOU CAN LIVE LIKE A KING here IF you plan wisely.

I retired in the Philippines at the age of 42 after working in law enforcement. I could have stayed in the US and lived on a budget or kept working but I decided to take my and live like a king for the rest of my life. My place is more high end at $900/month, I have a new car, a boat, and there are unlimited women although I have met someone who I am considering settling down with. Yeah ,3rd world country but good people and very inexpensive cost of living by American standards.
I moved there when I was 39. I was always low end. Fake meds sent me back to the USA after I got sick. Very hard to start fresh in the USA, sick and broke. Got federal help, Medicaid, and some understanding family. I think of and miss my life there everyday. The freedom, the lack of fear of police, the fresh food, the appearance of happiness as a way of life. I simply played every day for over 20 years.

I have Leukemia, my immune system is virtually non existent. Although walking the street is fun, I would miss all my other pass times, visiting foreigner friends (all gave up and moved away) busing kids to school (no truck any more) farming (sold the farm) buying produce from remote places and selling at the market, etc. @@rmontana3693

Having had the opportunity to live with the locals in multiple countries ... people who haven’t just don’t understand. You can belittle this guy all you want. But the truth is he’s living better perhaps than most of the locals. His social standing in the community is probably far better having adopted their lifestyle than the American living in a much bigger residence. The space doesn’t matter either when you spend most of your time outside anyway.

1) His food station has no food (i.e. tomatoes, oranges, etc.). 2) His buddy “who died” drank two bottles of hard liquor every night. This alone inspires me to drink even less than I currently do (not much). If I drank one whole bottle of hard liquor even once, I am sure that I’d drop dead (and positive I’d at least wind up in the hospital)! 3) The windows have “burglar bars” and retractable glass, but no screens (for mosquitoes)! 4) There is no mattress on the bed. 5) The “bum gun” is the shower! 6) Sure, this is worth $28/month, but although I am frugal, I’d rather pay a lot more for a condo with air-con/gym/pool and keep my liver relatively healthy. 7) This video is pure craziness!

Hey man, I enjoyed your video and it made me smile. I did pretty much the same thing from 2005-2012, but I kept a little place in Manila. It was a lot newer and cost me $100 per month but was a much similar amount of space. I did spend a little money on some things like a mattress and a toilet seat however and don't regret that a bit.
I went back and forth to the US several times a year to earn money while my wife and new son lived there. We were very happy until my wife decided we must be rich and insisted on getting a much bigger house, maids (yes, plural), a car we didn't need at all and of course a place to park it. I was much happier in the little place we started out in, sitting out in front of my house in a folding chair in the morning having coffee, or watching the door to door vendors on bicycles bring around cold beer, hot pork rinds, and even hot corn on the cob for a few pesos. I actually knew my neighbors, because they sat out there with me, and many a night was spent with them having fun and singing. You get used to the roosters pretty quickly as well, and there is nothing quite like collecting fresh mangoes that have just dropped free from the tree in your yard to have for breakfast.
I don't think people here in the US realize that in the Philippines, for many, your little house itself is just a place to cook, sleep, crap, and bathe, and you live your life outside and with other people. That was part of the joy in living there, and you very quickly forget about all the material gadgets you though you needed back home. If you are an American with a source of income, you do enjoy the fact that each month you are not faced with a crushing mortgage payment, and have cash to take the family places and do things, or just enjoy the stuff the Phils offer nearly free, like the beaches.

It's just a getting use to, to me it didn't bother me. When I moved to USA and live close to the railroad tracks, first time I got so scared but after 2 weeks, it didn't bother me, doesn't even woke me up anymore. The train is louder than the rooster and shakes the house a bit.

I have to travel the world lived on 5 continents in many countries and there are tons of places where you can live without a lot of money that are not the Philippines. Although the Philippines has many beautiful woven houses up on stilts that nearly any American could afford. There are entire Resorts that are empty that they need people to live in as well.

Ok people I live one island over from this guy on an island called Leyte and I love it. This guy is definitely SLUMMING it and I would not pay 1,000 pesos a month for that place!! What I do pay for is 5,000 pesos a month which at today's rate is $92 for a TWO BEDROOM HOUSE ACTUALLY ON THE WATER. I have a Fridge, AirCon, running HOT water in the CR, Microwave, Big Screen TV mounted on the wall, Coffee Pot, two beds with ACTUAL MATTRESSES etc. lol. I have a Housemaid AND a Nanny too!! And all that living off my Marine Corps Retirement and VA Disability. I also own a brand new Motorcycle and I just purchased a 2012 Suzuki Van. I put my girlfriend daughter through private school. My Uncle lives here on another island and so does my best friend so I travel every other month. YES YOU CAN LIVE LIKE A KING here IF you plan wisely.

I retired in the Philippines at the age of 42 after working in law enforcement. I could have stayed in the US and lived on a budget or kept working but I decided to take my and live like a king for the rest of my life. My place is more high end at $900/month, I have a new car, a boat, and there are unlimited women although I have met someone who I am considering settling down with. Yeah ,3rd world country but good people and very inexpensive cost of living by American standards.
I moved there when I was 39. I was always low end. Fake meds sent me back to the USA after I got sick. Very hard to start fresh in the USA, sick and broke. Got federal help, Medicaid, and some understanding family.
I think of and miss my life there everyday. The freedom, the lack of fear of police, the fresh food, the appearance of happiness as a way of life. I simply played every day for over 20 years.

I have Leukemia, my immune system is virtually non existent.

You can belittle this guy all you want. But the truth is he’s living better perhaps than most of the locals. His social standing in the community is probably far better having adopted their lifestyle than the American living in a much bigger residence. 1) His food station has no food (i.e. tomatoes, oranges, etc.).
2) His buddy “who died” drank two bottles of hard liquor every night. This alone inspires me to drink even less than I currently do (not much). If I drank one whole bottle of hard liquor even once, I am sure that I’d drop dead (and positive I’d at least wind up in the hospital)!
3) The windows have “burglar bars” and retractable glass, but no screens (for mosquitoes)!
4) There is no mattress on the bed.
5) The “bum gun” is the shower!
6) Sure, this is worth $28/month, but although I am frugal, I’d rather pay a lot more for a condo with air-con/gym/pool and keep my liver relatively healthy.
