The triangles are sequentially arranged (starting from right to left) and it is easy to approach in that way. 1st row - 8+7+6= 21 2nd row - 6+5=11 3rd row - 5+4=9 4th row - 3 5th row - 2 Summing all we get = 46
For the first question, I had a slightly different approach, please do review it. Imagine one layer has 9 triangles, (by looking at its top view you can figure out) and multiplying that with 8 layers, you will get a total of 72 blocks. Now from each exposed triangle, you can count the number of blocks that as missing as you mentioned. So missing blocks = 26. So 72 - 26 = 46.
I've observed questions of counting different types of characters out of a collection of repeated characters. For example: 1. UCEED 2020 q.9 2. UCEED 2018 q.1 How do we do them? Is there any better approach than arbitrarily counting? Thanks in advance :)

The method is still the same i.e. subtracting the missing triangular pieces. I think your method is better 👍
really a better way...
sir pls keep up the series of uceed...it is really helpful..thanks
