Can u imagine if Bird had 15+ healthy years instead of ~8.. There wouldn't even be a GOAT debate coz he would've won more MVP's & more Ch'ips, especially ones that Magic & Mike won instead during his failing back.. The fact that he deteriorated his NBA career to pave his mum's driveway off season just shows what a tough dude he was & his morals.. The term Legend doesn't do him justice 👌🏀

If .. there is no. He was a guy who graveled stones in the yard. He would do daily. He brike the back becuae if it. It was something that was part of his way, to gravel the stones in the yard.
He would have 5 more good seasons but he also digger gravel.
And players in 60s in the summer worked outside jobs.

@@SC-lb2hl It was end of 1985 season, and it led to the gradual decinstruction of the spine - togetger with the tough play of the time ans Lambeer etc and the hrels issues. It was not a one-out of 1985.

I am a New Yorker, and not a Celtic fan, but I declare that Larry Bird is the greatest small forward ever to lace up
    sneakers.
People are always comparing LeBron to
Jordan, but LeBron can't even unlace Larry Bird's sneakers.
Bird is the 2nd greatest NBA player after Michael Jordan.
Bird was the greatest perimeter shooter before Curry came along.
Bird could post the defense up on the
perimeter, and shoot over the defensive
    player.
Bird would take the defensive player on the block or in the paint and score over you.
He was also a great rebounder and a great passer. He had a very high IQ for
    basketball.
He was the best closer after Michael Jordan.
Moreover, he made the All Defense Team 3 times.
On the other, LeBron is not a closer, nor a great outside shooter.
Though he was trained by Olajuwon,he
has absolutely no game on the block nor in the paint.
Somehow I just can't forget how Dirk destroyed Lebron, Wade and Bosh in the 2011 finals, causing Lebron to have a meltdown.

    2. Lebron 44.4 -51-35-73
    3. Bird 43.1 -50-38-89
    4. Kareem 42.9 -56-06-72

    • @robgelfand2414

      How about this.
Looked at the top 250 players all-time for the following categories:
      FG%
      2pt FG%
      3pt FG%
      FT%
      Points per game
      Assists per game
      Rebounds per game
      Blocks per game
      Steals per game
      Minutes per game
Percent of games won that they played in.
That's 11 categories - Only 1 player in NBA history is in the top 250 players of all time in each of those categories and that is Larry Bird.
Additionally, Bird is in the top 60 all-time in 7 of those 11 categories.
Fun facts - Bird averaged more defensive rebounds per game than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Moses and Karl Malone - to name just a few.
Also Bird led the league in defensive win shares 4 times during his career. If you add the number of time Michael Jordan did that to the number of times Lebron James has done that you get ZERO!
      Bird is the best!

    • @aaronandelise
      @aaronandelise 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Bird is the best team player by far and the NBA is a team game. Jordan is the most athletic and is great. Lebron is a cry baby. Bird is just barely behind Magic for winning percentage.
The fact that Bird is not on everyone’s top three, is crazy.

Anyone can take career stats and make them out to be what they want. It doesn't prove or disprove anything. Lebron's stats, for instance, have how many more years in the league than Jordan, Bird, and Kareem? Longer time playing = higher numbers.

Not sure a better example exists in terms of the ability, through media, to manipulate, with intention, the widely held opinion and perception of a public figure than this Kobe clip on Bird.
When he was widely hated, this went viral with headlines like “Kobe disrespects Bird… Kobe doesn’t get it… Kobe claims he could easily defend Bird. Attached was only “don’t understand why he was so hard to defend, he looks slow as shit to me.”
First, he wasn’t offering opinion. He was truly asking. He knows Bird was all but unstoppable, and wants to know what it was that made him so because on film he looks slow. What am I not seeing that made him among the greatest because I want to acquire it. It was awe, not dismissal.
And says all anyone need know about how media works is that a clip, edited and initially shared to further demonstrate Kobe’s arrogance as he disrespects one of the game’s true legends, cut off the next few seconds. When Kobe doesn’t see every hand go up after asking the audience who watched Bird play, responds simply “that’s not enough, we’ve got some work to do.” That was sold as Kobe dismissing Bird. GTFO.

    • @bricefleckenstein9666
      @bricefleckenstein9666 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Having seen the whole clip before, I always took it as Kobe wanting to know WHY Larry was hard to guard as Kobe didn't understand it, NOT that he was disrespecting Bird.
I'm CERTAIN that Worthy and Cooper gave Kobe plenty of the straight scoop from personal experience.

No, but he asked quite a few questions from Worthy and Cooper and others that DID, and saw lots of game tape.
Nolan never played against Bird either - why don't you have an issue with HIM?

The best players get drafted. As a Junior, Bird lead his college team to an undefeated season only to lose to Magic in the NCAA finals. Averaging 35 points a game. Any player to do that, white, black, green or orange will be drafted.

Bron don't have that killer instinct or championship mentality. Don't have that clutch gene and will not sacrifice his body and hustle like Bird. unpopular truth. Larry Bird was good. He is a multiple time champion.
But, he did absolutely nothing to change the game. Was he a unicorn? No. Was he a 6 foot 9 point guard that ran plays and could pass like a small point guard? Was he an unguardable dominant force like Shaq? Bird is super overrated and so are most of these "legends"
In fact I would put Dirk Nowitzki over Bird.

Jordan is the GOAT then Magic and bird . Stop trying to put LeBron James in the same category. If LeBron James was playing back, then where they didn’t have all these new rules where the game was so much more physical, LeBron James would average 20 points a game. If these three guys were playing in today’s game, where they call a foul, if your eyelash touches another player shoulder, Jordan would average 55+ a game Bird and Magic would average 45+ a game
