    As a seasoned funk guitar player I have to make Dave Price my 1st choice for lessons. He's one of the few that gets it down pat and correct. Cheers Dave for all your hard work.

    The song was written by Ray Parker and it was his first number #1 hit and he was 18 years old. One of the most renowned session rhythm guitarists ever.

    omg you are my hero this is so AWESOME and super helpful. Nobody has any good tabs or videos and watching live videos only made it harder for me lol ...i know this isnt funk but maybe you could do until you come back to me so the chords i think i got down but stylistically some input would help!! thanks again!

    Outstanding Mr. PRICE
    You simplify a groove down to its root!
    I know that the videos are are limited by time.
    But if you can sometimes give us a little more time to play with you in real time.
    That way guitarist can use you and the recording as a "band" so to speak.
    Some players I've seen get lost when the other instruments are introduced.
    This way they can maybe get used to playing around other instruments and maintain the groove.
    The patient manner in which you teach is a very useful technique.
    It allows players to learn chords and technical prowess at their own pace.
    I subscribed!
    Glad I did!

      Mark Lott Cheers Mark. There was a lot to get through on this one so I kept it brief. There is a link to a full play through at the end of the video if that helps.

      Didn't expect you to respond!
      Thanks for the link.
      Your work is going to get me playing again!
      Did a Warmoth custom build last year and haven't had the time to play.
      Looking forward to getting back into it big time.
      Your videos bring back great memories of when I last played.
      Wish me luck!

      Hey Dave, where did you get the tabs for this song? I have searched the Internet far and wide and I've only come across some sheet music that had tabs below but they must've been transposed by a non-guitar player because the positioning on the neck was all wrong, and the other thing I found was a chord list that could not have been more wrong. The tabs included in your video are the only correct ones in existence. Can you link a source, or if it's a PDF on your PC, can we figure out a way for me to get my hands on it? My last resort here would be to screen grab the tabs off your video and figure out how to stitch them together. I've been trying to learn this song for several months now and this would be a huge help.

    Yes. That was an 18 year old Ray Parker Jr. on guitar. He also co-wrote the song with Chaka Khan.

    • @mayibuye2908
      @mayibuye2908 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ray wrote the song for Stevie Wonder, who decided it should rather be done by Chaka & Rufus, one of the acts on his label. Ray was then a session player in Stevie's studio.

    Good lesson. This one is tricky for me because of the string gauge I use. To bend that now with my little finger id have to move to 9s

    Dave great cover...How do you get that" clear palm mute distortion effect" are you using reverb? and a certain pedal? Enjoyed your lesson. I am considering a skype lesson. Thanks Dave

    • @DavePriceGuitarist
      @DavePriceGuitarist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Chris! The trick is to keep the gain low for a tighter distortion. I am using a Line 6 Helix for all the sounds on this track. There is a little plate reverb on the clean tracks.
