So glad to see Ducks, Newburyport in your Fall Book Haul.
Adding We Don't Know Ourselves to my TBR.
I have read all of the Shady Hollow series, there are five novels and two novellas, and I adore them. The mysteries are fairly obvious, but what I love about them is the characters and settings. I added that Winnie the Pooh book to my TBR, and also I'm interested in the ones by Rundell and Kadri. Great haul!!! ❤
I've never found a booktuber I relate to more in terms of taste. I love your channel!
Another great book haul. So many getting added to my TBR!
Fire Weather was a very interesting read. I take part on the Provincetown, MA library reading challenge and one of the prompts this year was on climate change. I read it to fulfill the challenge and really liked it.
Oh my Goodness; that Winnie the Pooh book! 🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯
Haven’t gotten halfway through your review and already buying Shady Hollow.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Hallmark were to buy the film rights for “Flight”.
Have you tried any nature books by Marty Crump? All are great, but a good introduction is Headless Males Make Great Lovers. Another one that sounds like your type is Robert S. Desowitz's New Guinea Tapeworms and Jewish Grandmothers: Tales of Parasites and People.
Really enjoyed Fire Weather (esp being a Canadian). Learned a lot about the science of oilsands and Alberta's history with fossil fuels and even the difference between urban firefighters and wildfire firefighters. Would like to read The Heat Will Kill You First as a pairing.
it was intense!
I literally just finished reading Fire Weather this morning. I thought the author's connecting of wildfires with the oil industry and climate change to really bring home what is happening in a more concrete way. Glaciers melting always seemed so far away and unreal. This was different.
I have Ducks, Newburyport and you are giving me the inspiration to try it again!!! I added the loon book. They are one of my favorite water birds.
I also have Beaver Land on my TBR. I look forward to your review as it will help me decide if I want to get it.
The time travel book sounds intriguing.
Loved the Golden Mole
I love Shady Hollow! ❤
Loving that you like Winni the Pooh! I will read flight during Christmas season! Love your recs ❤❤❤
The Book Loft is such a unique place!
Shady Hollow is so fun. I've been meaning to read Catherine House for a while, but have been reluctant because of the mixed reviews. I saw that Winnie the Pooh book online recently and I will be looking for it in a bookstore.
Hey there from Cleveland!!! I love the Book Loft, a great place to get lost in.
Wonderful video, Olive. Thanks.
I listened to a fascinating book recently for a different take on Georgia O'Keeffe. SOMEONE ALWAYS NEARBY: A Novel of Maria Chabot and Georgia O'Keeffe. Based on research into a massive collection of over 700 letters, documents, media reports, and historical accounts.
I'm always glad to see a little bit of MN love on Booktube. We do love our loons, and I do need that book.❤📖 This is such a fun book haul, and I may be adding a few of these to my tbr. 📚
Barnes & Noble closed close to me..😵💫suppose to be a redo
You really showed us some unusual types of books here. The premise of The Kingdom of Ohio sounds like something I would really like. I love steampunk and don’t see it talked about very often. Thanks for bringing this book to my attention!
Ducks Newberry has a side story running through it that really added to the experience of reading it for me. I actually listened to it on audio at the same time which helped me get through it.
Thanks also for all your wonderful nonfiction books here.
I'm reading We Don't Know Ourselves this fall too! So fun when I see a booktuber I love reading something I'm reading!
Definitely would like to read Fire Weather!
Love your channel and reviews.
I finished the golden mole yesterday . It is beautifully written, and very interesting
It is short and covers many animals so for me I now feel I should have read a chapter and then left it for a day or so to take it in before reading another, as although not in-depth it did have a lot of information and reading it too fast didn't help it stay in.However, it was due back at the library so the last half was read too quickly.
I love how you can pronounce the author's names so effortlessly!
What is the UK bookstore with us shipping? I think Blue was in the name.
Blackwell's!
Prepare for a fever dream of a book with Catherine House. It's sometimes vague, disjointed, with a main character who is hard to identify with. For some reason I cannot find, I loved it. Ready for a reread.
Pizza Girl sounds good to me, along with Shady Hollow. And I can’t pass up a NYC book, so both of these are being added to my want lists.
Fire Weather reads like a thriller in parts. Very good and very informative, so readable. The Golden Mole is a short but sweet and important book.
I would be very interested in a video from you about blurbs!
Another awesome book haul.
I would love to hear more about the perfume/scent related books you’ve read!
The one on the search for a cure for malaria sounds very interesting
Thank you Olive!
Of all the books you mentioned Pizza Girl and Group living sounds interesting and the book about the Statue of Liberty might be good to gift my nephew who is into history!
I have many friends who love the Shady Hollow mysteries.
I added the Kingdom of Ohio to my long list TBR.
Golden Mole is one I have been desiring for ages too! Love when such a great find comes along!
Also adding The Natural World of Pooh to my list.
🤣That Trojan Carrot book sounds amazing! I'll have to see if I can find it secondhand.
I just picked up a Cookbook by Pollan's family, I was saving it for either Nonfiction Nov. or for Foodie February.
Fun Haul! I always love seeing the choices you make.
I would love a perfume element
I read The Sun and the Moon years ago. I remember it being crammed with rabbit trails and diversions, but not caring in the least that it was disorganized because it was so much fun. The sections on Poe are so interesting.
Olive: this is quite a list. Thank you for the review. Carol from California
Pride and Prejudice and Pittsburgh I bought and read this year for Pride, after moving to California and missing home. It was just okay. So little Pittsburgh, could have been edited better. 😕 But it was cute.
As a bookseller, Shady Hollow and the rest of the books in the series have caught my eye. They look cozy. 💖 Fire Weather, Beaver Land, and Bite by Bite (I have an ARC of this one) are on my TBR! Quinine is new to me, and The Natural World of Winnie the Pooh are new to me! I have added them to my list, thank you for introducing me to them. 💛
Very excited to see that you've picked up "Pizza Girl"! It seems like it had some buzz when it first came out and then people stopped talking about it. I found it truly unique and so propulsive. Hope you like it!
