I took a 14-night cruise with Cunard onboard Queen Elizabeth, which is both a ship and a cruise line that I've never tried before, but have wanted to for YEARS! This cruise would see me travel from Long Beach, California, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida via the PANAMA CANAL - a true bucket list itinerary for me!
In this episode, I'm boarding the ship, after leaving the Queen Mary in Long Beach, and I'm taking you with me. Let's explore the world of Cunard luxury cruising together - will it be like my experiences up until now, or something completely different? There's only one way to find out!

I felt your excitement, Fraser. I had wanted to cruise with Cunard for many years. Finally, when in my 60s, I got the opportunity. When going up the escalator in the cruise terminal in Fremantle, I got a glimpse of the Queen Elizabeth's name on the ship and I got very emotional. I couldn't believe I'd finally made it!! Our cruises since then have been special offers from Cunard which makes it more affordable. I enjoyed this video.

I spotted Cunard's Queen Elizabeth in Sydney Harbour yesterday as I was leaving Australia following a visit and a cruise with a Great Barrier Reef itinerary. Just watching your enthusiasm made me smile the whole way through the vlog. I haven’t sailed on the Queen Elizabeth since 2011 and it’s great to see she’s still looking very elegant. A kettle in the stateroom is a very welcome addition but I see the daily programme has lost it’s look of quality. Open dining is a very welcome change but has Cunard ceased doing the evening turn down and chocolate on your pillow? Looking forward to following you on the rest of your voyage.

Often, when it’s me cruising solo, I quite like giving my cabin attendant the night off - they always smile when I tell them I don’t need them to tidy up my room before bed! Well spotted!

The ship looks lovely! And that dinner made me hungry. I was wondering, when you go to dinner solo, do all the cruise lines seat you at a table alone or do some force you to sit with others? I was on a cruise years back and the smallest tables in the dining room were for four so even if you were a couple, they sat you with another couple.
It's nice that they have so many gatherings for those traveling solo.
Another question if I may. Regarding room service, how does tipping work with that? Is it expected? Frowned upon? Is it the same person who brings it every time so you give them one large tip at the end of your voyage? What is the proper procedure?
FYI, prunes are dried plums. They have lots of fiber and vitamins and are very good for you.

Hey! So solo dining differs per cruise line, and can even differ across one line’s fleet. Generally speaking, I found it easy to request a table on my own - most lines are great about it if you just speak to the restaurant manager nicely - we’re all human!
For room service, I didn’t actually tip them, but did leave my gratuities on my account to ensure tips were spread out. I don’t think tips on cruise ships are ever ‘frowned upon’ though - they’ll happily accept, I’m sure!

@@JohnnyHereYT hey! So HAL charge a daily gratuity when you’re onboard. Some passengers choose to remove these, but I mean I left mine in place 😊
I would like to go on a cruise to the Panama canal. I've looked at them though. Personally, I book whichever cabin I think is worth it for a particular cruise. Like I mentioned before, I have 4 QM2 cruises coming up later this year. Two in a solo ocean view cabin and the other in a "guaranteed" inside cabin. Hopefully they give me an upgrade, but I wouldn't pay for one on QM2 because any cabin is good enough for me. Looking forward to your upcoming videos.
I have a question, could you see how much the large bottles of water costs? That's all I'll be drinking except some liquor I plan to bring aboard. I may drink regular coffee in my cabin also, but I'm not into soda/juice etc.

I can’t remember water prices specifically, but you can get free glasses of water around the ship easily with Cunard. I’d expect they would cost about $6-8, but that’s a total guess.

@@FraserAtSea I have presumed most Carnival Corp lines worked in USD but come to think of it, P&O work in GBP, Costa & Aida must work in Euros, P&O Australia must be the Aussie Dollar, so HAL, Seaborne, Princess, Cunard and Carnival Cruises itself will be USD ?? Am I right you well cruised people ? 😅

Cabo San Lucas? Is overrated, onlything nice are beaches & ocean tours, town is horrible, I lived there 6 yrs.
