@@timothyjackson926 Seems to me TyTy Washington is the glue that holds Kentucky together this year. Even when he has a bad game, he keeps the others calm enough to keep playing well.
Reminds me of Coach K and Alford after being crushed by the super team when it comes to players and performances, however Self was also particularly kind to Cal and Kentucky as a program.
As a KY fan I love and respect Kansas and Bill self. I'ma KY fan first but I've always been a Kansas fan as well. KY when healthy this year is elite. Just consistency and health is crucial.
Alabama beat Baylor and uk beat Kansas let’s Just say that the sec is better than the big 12. Kentucky would’ve beat Auburn if ty ty and wheeler was not injured.

I'm not UK fan, but I thought even after their loss to Duke that this team had more upside. I thought after the UNC game and later, after the Tenn game, that their A-game is virtually unbeatable. We saw it again here. They have no weakness. They're deep and experienced. They defend, rebound, share the ball and have both shooters and scorers. As for KU, they are still a contender, but they don't match up too well with strong rebounding teams. They aren't as physical or athletic as UK and several others. They have a smaller margin for error. The interesting thing about this game, from a coaching standpoint, was that Self made a good adjustment to try to take Tshiebwe out inside and to guard Grady on the 3-pt line. He was backing off everyone else to clog the middle. Normally, you might expect UK to bring in another shooter, like Mintz, to defeat that strategy. They didn't need to. Grady was still making those remarkable, spinning catch-and-shoot threes and everyone else was playing so well that Cal didn't see the need to go to the bench to add another 3-pt shooter to the mix.
@@eyawakening I don't think much of trite expressions like "play like a wildcat". Every player should play to his own strengths, whatever they might be. Mintz hasn't been shooting it too well recently, but part of that might be that he's coming off the bench cold. it just goes to show how deep and talented this team is that he's been relegated to such a minor role. He'd be the leading scorer on more than a few teams. You could say the same about Remy Martin at KU. He's capable of "taking over", but he's been a secondary option at best in this line-up.

Being a wildcat means playing team basketball, taking good shots, playing harder than the other team and being smart in transition. Id rather have domonique hawkins. I put mintz up there with ryan harrow as one of our worst guards we've had. 6 years now...he should be one of the best and hes our last guard option off bench.

I might agree with you if I watched Mintz more closely, though I recall him being their best shooter last year (such as it was). Moreover, I just recently listened to Cal praising his contributions in a game where he didn't shoot it well, so he's doing some "wildcat things". What you see as taking quick or bad shots might be a case of him doing what Cal expects him to do. Shooters who don't pull the trigger take themselves out of games. In any event, Wheeler gives them so much energy on both ends. Washington is really good. He's an NBA player and probably a star at the next level. Grady looks like Klay Thompson when he was really good. It's a tough line-up for a guard to crack.

It's not often you'll see this happen to Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, but from tip to tale Kentucky dominated the Jayhawks on their home floor in every facet of the game imaginable. When the Cats are playing like this, or like they played a few games back dominating Tennessee, they're absolutely capable of beating any team in the country, and they're absolutely capable of another run to the Final Four and cutting down the nets for another National Title. Always loved Bill Self. Always hated the cheating rumors that surrounded him. Seems like maybe they are / were not rumors after all. He seems like such a great person. So likable. Stands up for his kids. Doesn’t place blame. The kids that play for him love him. That says a lot in itself. I really do hope he doesn’t have to quit over off the court problem’s.

I think this game shows how crappy Kansas bigs are. McCormick is a beast if a man but has the heart of kitten. Lightfoot has always been the same. A backup. Bill Self obviously was outcoached. As a Kentucky fan this is my favorite coach.. And when we have lost games to KU I never get mad much respect for the school an the coaching staff.
