@@GamingWeekends1 Well the reason it's important on the S53, S79 and S93 routes is because they connect Staten Island to Brooklyn via the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and there's no bike or pedestrian lane on the VZ Bridge. Otherwise, the only way to bike from Staten Island to Brooklyn is to take your bike on the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan and then pedal across the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge or Williamsburg Bridge to Brooklyn. I guess it could be useful to have bike racks on other bus routes if your bike breaks down.
About time! If you do go forward with this make sure *100%* of your buses have it, if only some of the buses have it it's useless since you don't know if your bus will have one.
This is absolutely AWESOME!! I really hope that they expand this program soon to accommodate other huge bridges that cannot be cycled over. The Throgs Neck and Whitestone are the two big ones that come to mind. There is no access from the Whitestone or or Throgs Neck neighborhoods in The Bronx with College Point and Bayside in Queens, but those are all huge areas to ride in.
That's B/C they're running out of the Castleton Depot & some of the buses in that particular garage have bike racks...they're mainly used on the S53 & S93 LTD routes, as stated in the video's opening header...if there's some sort of fleet storage at any time, expect to see the bike rack buses on other routes besides those two...great variety for the Transit system & more sights to see on your favorite routes out of Castleton, don't you think?
NJ Transit has this on some of their NABI buses. But it's a crapshoot whether you will get a bus with a rack or not. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
You do realize that not only do other cities have this feature, but when the bikes are on there, the bikes are secured. Plus the program has been going on for five years, and there hasn’t been a single report of accidents due to the bike racks. Since then, it’s been expanded to the Bx23 and Q50 bus routes over the Whitestone Bridge, and no issues there. Other cities get to have bike racks on buses so why can’t NYC?
Okay mister car You think your useful when you drive a car just to travel a few blocks Maybe your just a fat fuck who’s a waste of space on the bus because your too big to ride a car because the suspension broke😂😢 Go touch some grass and Bette yet go exercise 😢😅😂🚲🛴
That’s very cool. I didn’t even know this. They should add bike mounts to all of NYC buses.
I agree, just put my bike on the bus and have less exercise

ChiroVette The buses on the Bx23 and Q50 have bike racks on then as the Q50 traverses the Whitestone Bridge
The Q44 too
finally the MTA got this
How come the Bike and Ride pilot program never been seen or used in Brooklyn? : 0

The American Buses has a bike back with Wi-Fi and USB Charging Ports heading to NYC Streets.
Now, Its not Limited 2 EPA10s now
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
FINALLY. NOW TO MAKE THINGS BETTER THE METRO NEEDS THIS HAHA BUT SERIOUSLY!
S53
I thought SEPTA was gonna be one of the only ones with that
+AJ Dyre Gleason (AJ Of JGD) A lot of other cities have them as well. NYCT is one of the only ones without bike racks.
+Ajani D. Gleason No way! Hick locations like Hernando County, Florida have had those for years, as well as other parts of the country.
ADGTM ADG here in Milwaukee... all of our buses have bike racks since 2009
Valley Metro Phoenix had it since 1990
It's about time
Finally
time consuming imo.
Yeah let's ADD MORE LIABILITY ON THE BUS OPERATOR. Let's imagine the bike flying off and killing a little child. What then ? The driver is FIRED??

No it’s then the liability of the bike owner for not securing it properly
What a waste of time. But apparently the rest of the world must cater to the smug bicyclist lobby.
bruh
KiloByte Correction: You’re a waste of time.
Besides, it's not safe to ride a bicycle over the Verrazano Bridge.
