I had a friend in the corps who played yugio on the pc and he would be getting dumpstered every single game but the whole time he would just say “believe in the heart of the cards.” And literally every single game he would come back on his last turn before defeat and win. The dudes mental focus was unreal. He also learned like 8 languages. Dude was on another level. I couldn’t believe when I watched him. I’d be like “yo there’s no shot you win this.” And he’d just be like “believe in the heart of the cards.” And came back every. Single. Time. I truly wish everyone could see his runs so you could see the absurdity.
This game seems to, either inadvertently or not, push some biases. The trailer park decreasing safety and the garbage plant giving the environmental resource are some examples. I suppose that might just come with the territory of simplifying the complex nature of how cities function and how they interact with the world around them, but it is still troubling nonetheless.
This is a game set in the future where the garbage plant is actually a fusion plant and thus environmentally friendly. And it makes sense that trailer parks decrease safety... It creates a place for -pigs- police to target and harass people, making things less safe for the people living there.
Polygon made an interesting video about how Sim City did the same thing on a grander scale. The most successful in game strategies were the ones that aligned with the programmer's political beliefs.

I think an obvious mechanic for this game would be to have buildings synergize or have penalties based upon adjacent buildings. That way you benefit from good city planning and suffer for putting things like trash factories next to baby farms or whatever

What you said was true but it doesn't illustrate at all what happened as the order shouldn't matter. Having 1 success or less with 15 25% attempts has a probability of around 8%.
For anyone looking at the probability. The probability of exactly 1 out of 14 being successful is 8.32 %. The probability of AT LEAST 1 out of 14 is 98.2 %, while at least 2 out of 14 is 89.9 %

There's only about a 1.3% chance that you would get 1/15 with a 25% chance of success. Either the true probability isn't 25%, or Tyler got incredibly unlucky.
It depends on the garbage you burn. Garbage that is high in methane emission is actually a LOOOOOT better to burn than to leave as is. Carbon dioxide is nothing compared to methane and other carbohydrons.
its a demo - devs still could add things like synergies or negatives when placing certain cards close to each other for full game. I sure hope so cuz as it is its bit too simple for my taste. But with synergies might be enough challenge and variation.
Why does everyone think that waste incineration plants are bad for the environment? If its someone as an individual is to do it, yes However, at least in the West, the regulations imposed on such plants are very strict With all those filters it almost doesn't damage the environment at all.
Burning garbage is the best way we have currently yo get rid of non recyclable waste. There is serious filtered on those plants. A million times better than landfilds.
I understand why police stations increase the "safety" resource because that's an assumption these sorts of games make when simulating the world. But policing IRL doesn't increase community safety and actually makes life much more dangerous for the commuities they disservice. You're much more likely to be killed by police than 'thugs' yeah? Abolishing the police and redirecting the funding that previously went to them into community wellness programs would do so much more to tangibly increase the safety of communities and people.
Defunding police is such a good idea that crime rate shot up to record highs in Minneapolis when they pledged to do it. Crazy how removing the only crime deterrent makes crime skyrocket but people would rather push the narrative that the 600 yearly police caused deaths compare to the 22,000 homicides a year. 🤡🤡🤡
