Mammotion Yuka review ft. long wet grass + sweeper

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 15 ต.ค. 2024
- Testing the Yuka and sweeper in the most brutal conditions possible to see how it can cope with long, wet grass, mowing slopes in the rain, and much more.
The Yuka robot lawnmower is best suited for smaller, flat sections compared with the Luba but has its own strengths.

Growing up, the bane of my existence was being told, "Go mow the lawn!" It was right up there with doing dishes or vacuuming-chores I absolutely hated. Fast forward to today, and I’ve upgraded my life with a dishwasher and a robot vacuum that take care of the dirty work for me. What a game-changer! But the missing piece? A robot lawnmower. Like the video says, once you have a robot vacuum, there’s no going back. I’m convinced the Luba will be just as life-changing, giving me clean dishes, spotless floors, and a perfect lawn-finally putting an end to those childhood chore battles for good!
The slow motion videos make this look so seamless. One less job to do, the dream.
Best review yet! Just brought a house in Christchurch with a lawn the Yuka would eat up!!
Haha thanks! Christchurch has a lot of leaves too
Not only is this the most brilliant piece of kit but the dumping mechanism is such a help. I hate having to stop undo the back of my mower dump then put back and restart. It winds me up. What a change to my weekly life this would be
I can relate to that! If using a push mower I wait until it’s 110% full before emptying!
The specification’s made it look like a bit of a princess. But she really doesn’t mind getting her boots dirty. Another great review 👍
Yeah I agree! Pleasantly surprised
Awesome review!
Impressive how well it manages the longer/thicker grass, even with having to empty the catcher often.
Thanks! 👍
It leaves stripes, which looks nicer than other robo mowers I've seen, plus collection and dumping clippings, it's impressive.
How far we’ve come! This looks so effortless!
Super-impressed with your demonstration of the performance of this little helper! Our property in South West Wales UK "enjoys" copious amounts of rain which produces the lushest grass imaginable - you can almost hear it growing! A combination of a 6,000m2 meadow, plus another 3,000m2 of meandering "formal" garden means at least two - three full days of conventional mowing. It's pretty hard yakka (work) which honestly tests the stamina of both current mowing equipment and my 75 year old self!! A Yuka for the yakka would be a dream come true! (Fingers crossed!)
A Luba might still be better for you. I believe the country is fairly similar in Wales to wet Auckland! All the best from the other side of the world.
@@RobomateTV Yes, that makes good sense and is great advice. Actually, our "formal" garden is made up of five small path-connected feature gardens which, in themselves, are not at all challenging - just time consuming. A Yuka with its clipping catcher would keep this area nice & tidy. But, similar to your beautiful NZ property, our large, rougher meadow/field area might make a Luba2 the helper of choice I suspect. In other words we need both machines! Still have fingers crossed... Best regards to you too!
this is ace, i could spend all day watching it. we have a huge area that has become so hard to cut as the ride on always dies and needs a new part! defo need to look into this. thanks
Its cool to see how far these have come in such a short amount of time. Theyre super cool.
Great video! Wow wasn't expecting it to work on that terrain
Haha honestly neither was I at first. The long grass obviously isn't my property - when I asked the owner if I could film it there they had warned me it was long but I didn't realise it would be that long!
Amazing. Please provide updates over time, how do things break or wear, how painful is servicing and parts.
Will do. I'm not sure re the yellow sweeper brush... so far it's holding up well, but I can imagine it'll need replacing after a few more months
I would absolutely love one of these! I’ve got a robot hoover but a lawnmower would be another level as it’s a tough job for me. Thanks for the chance
I've not been following robot lawn mowers too much, but this thing looks awesome!
Impressed with the cut on uneven ground 👍🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
Great review. You mentioned other competing mowers. Would be great to hear some specifics.
I'll have to make some more videos soon... these mower videos take an insane amount of time compared with the vacuums. The nearest competitor to Yuka is probably Segway at this point. It has the single cutting disc and less traction but experience isn't bad
Looks pretty sick tbh. Haven't seen that many other robo mower reviews but this one certainly looks like it does pretty much everything I'd expect from one
I’ve been hanging out for the Luba follow up! Looks like it’s still going but ‘a year with Luba’ would be awesome to see.
Yep, it's still going! I now have a Luba 2 and Luba running and both doing a good job. Luba's current software is actually better than the original video too
The bane of my childhood was "you need to go and mow the lawns". Same for doing the dishes or vacuuming the house. Oh how I hated that work! Today I have a dishwasher and a robot vacuum cleaner that dutifully cleans and my life is better for it. The missing piece is the robot lawnmower. Like the video mentions, once you have a robot vacuum cleaner, there's no going back. I expect a Luba to be much the same... clean dishes, clean floors and a perfect lawn. Finally childhood chore drama can be dealt with!
Haha, I used to hate chores cause I was lazy, now chores almost count as down time. Would still rather do something else though!
Looking forward to hearing how the Luba 5000 did over time too.
Luba 2 was announced before I got to doing the Luba 1 update video... that is coming soon. These mower videos take months of work... vacuum can be done a lot faster!
I finally bit the bullet and bought the Yuka. With the price point more inline with what I wanted to spend it is a fantastic piece of kit. Unfortunately the sweeper was out of stock in the UK but will be getting it once it is becomes available again.
How do you find it? Or still waiting on it?
Impressive demonstration, I have the original Luba 1 and it is doing a great job maintaining our 3 acre kikuyu lawns that I would not normally be able to mow through the NZ winter as the ground gets too soft for the ride on. These machines are impressive.
How long have you had it for?
Awesome to hear! Thanks for the comment
Super interesting to see it operating in such a consistently wet environment.
Honestly pretty impressive -- Thanks for sharing!
Wouldn’t complain if I got to test one in a less wet environment for once haha! It does make for a great test though
Impressive! Fingers and toes crossed for the comp 🤞🫰
Great mower, the sweeper seems like a really nice addition.
I think we'll see more sweepers coming to the market soon... seems like a natural next step.
Great piece of kit and review - makes it look so easy!
It's great that it collects the grass cuttings.
I really appreciate your work, you make very cool videos and I always enjoy watching them. I could really use the Yuka for my parents since they can no longer mow the lawn themselves. Thanks for the good videos
What an amazing mower. I love how the whole base moves to adjust to the lawn height
Yep, I need more time to let the grass really recover before it shows the difference in result... but at this time in NZ it could be 3 more months and I wanted to get a video up!
Just purchased my first home with a decent section size (2500sqm) would absolutely love something like this!
Great review. I appreciate all the real issues you covered. One extra question: Can the Yuka run without connecting to the internet?
This is the sort of in depth review I needed to see! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Looks so impressive, I'd love to give it a go
Great video - and a very impressive bit of machinery
This would be so helpful to me and my husband. It looks awesome.
When Mammotion first announced the Yuka with that single wheel at the front, I had my doubts, but now I'm a believer. Yuka cutting that high grass was amazing!
I've tried a few other 3 wheelers and they have been awful, so pleasantly surprised.
Impressive! That’s a real stress-test😆 mowing in a swamp..
I've been waiting for round 2 of the robot mowers! Glad to see where the Yuka fits in compared to a Luba.
Completely different yet very similar. Each has its place
This looks incredible! My neighbour has a tree in his garden and one root is breaking ground level in one corner of my garden, already grounding out my manual push mower. Apart from removing the root, would I measure the two sections separately? Secondly, does the memory allow both measure settings to be saved, so I do not have to keep measuring? Great top BTW!
Great review, you highlighted all the pros and cons. Now I want one 😀
Cheers Steve
I am so pleased that Mamotion seem to be perfecting the art. Great review, thanks for sharing. Liked and was already subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you!
This will be great for my Mum!! ❤
How sweet, if I win I too will donate it to your mum too.
@@Tez_R That's too kind of you!! 🙏
@@staceyrobinson3738 I'm seriously hoping @tez_r wins now, that'd be an amazing story. (We'll still keep it fair, although no one would believe us now if that did happen!) 😅
Don't worry, I'm not that lucky. Besides, I have to admit @staceyrobinson3738 's mum is also my mum. 😅
I've got the whole family subscribed to you now in hope to get mum a robot lawnmower for Christmas. 🤞
Finally a detailed review of this product. Keen to give it a go :)
Good luck!
Looks great! My husband would love this
Great mower! I am interested to know if the sweeper gets tangled with items. Great review 👏.
It gets tangled with cabbage leaves... it doesn't stop it sweeper but it will need clearing sometimes. Cheers!
Great to see you back awesome review thanks
thanks! good to be back... I have good intentions of making more videos soon ;)
looks impressive, great review!
Great review, really informative. Been looking for a robot lawnmower that can cope with rough terrain and manage thicker grass - here's hoping i win!
Great review, this would be great for doing my garden
Good luck!
I have been waiting for you to review this mower! Cheers
Haha, sorry... it has been a LONG time coming!
Mammotionnis doing amazing stuff with these mowers only problem is the price.
I would love one of these - they are amazing!
Would love this to keep control of our grass, it seems to grow at lightening speed!
Nothing can compare with New Zealand in peak season!
Great review as with all of your reviews! Very keen to get this or the Luba 2! I won't be giving it to my mum if I win. :)
Does it take the joy out of mowing the lawn? I'm still on the fence when it comes to robot mowers but I'm getting there.
Pretty interesting. Can you set up multiple dumping points?
Awesome mower! Would love one!
Great review. Very comprehensive.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic review!
Looks cool! Thanks for the review
No prob - thanks for watching!
Great review. The wiper blade! Very cute lol
Haha yep, it is! I forgot to include a clip of that working 🤨
Love your videos! you put in a lot of effort!
Thanks heaps Steve! I sure do… means I’m sometimes quite slow but we get there in the end! Appreciate it
Nice. How does it cope with dead ends? My current mower just gets stuck and digs in!
It looks a serious bit of kit. I've always thought these mowers were literal lightweights.
This review convinced me to buy this mower; if I don't manage to win the comp my wallet will hate me but at least I'll still have a great mower
It deals with some moderately long grass reasonably well, good to know.
Thanks, in NZ it's a close decision between the Navimow i108 (which apparently does 800m2 plus 20% very confusing) and this for our 1000m2 +.lawn. We have a vegetable garden area with 6 raised beds and a shade house and all that's an absolute pain to mow around, would you do them as no go zones or just let it figure out it can never mow them. Was already subscribed!
I'd probably do them as no mow zones as the mower uses them to proactively plan its paths, whereas it doesn't remember stuff it has seen through the camera next time. Having said that, it will mow pretty close with the cameras... probably best just to try both and see.
Nice one! I'm amazed it did so well on tall grass. Robot mowers have a bit less torque I assume, and hence smaller blades. Is blade maintenance cycle a step up from a regular mower? Do you need to change them up regularly?
Same honestly! Most robots struggle a lot. Blade maintenance is more regular but easier as you can just flip it over and switch with a screw driver.
Looks great is this available in the UK
I think this would suit me!! What is the smaller area?
Crazy idea, lay a stretch of carpet down and see how the yuka sweeper combo does as a vacuum. I feel like it would do a better job than some robot vacuums. 🤔
Haha that would be quite cool to test...
This is indeed a capable robot :)
This looks awesome, are the batteries changeable?
Yup, there's a slot for a second one on board too. They're externally accessible too (as in without removing the actual main cover)
Nice review!
very cool, need one to hang out with Luba.
How's Luba?
@@RobomateTV He could do with a buddy but other than that very happy with my purchase. Spring is keeping him busy mowing every day that the Canterbury weather will allow.
Like my sister said... this would be perfect for my mum ❤
I am looking for this one since it released. Do i understand it right, that there is no sensor that determines the fullnes of the sweeper-attachment?
And thanks for the video! Great information
Yes, that's correct. Most robot vacuums can't detect that either - it's really hard to detect that accurately as most optical sensors will get dirty and you can't use weight...
This thing would be sweet to maintain the yard with, especially under trees.
Good work fella!
How well do you think a robot can handle sticks and even large branches falling from gum trees? With the camera it should avoid the large ones but would it get stuck on the smaller?
will you do a review of the Yarbo mower as well?
Such a cool mower, must ask santa for one
Looks like a good mower. If that's Kikuya (he says looking out the window), maybe it would cope with my lawn too.
Haha, it sure is. I found it can actually cut through the roots which is impressive. Luba can cut kikuyu but can't scalp it
This looks awesome
Nice review.
I must say when I first saw Mammotion had released this I didn't expect it to be so capable. You say in the video that you cut without the collector and then put it back on, Is that a manual process or something the mower can do itself?
It's a manual process. I guess Yuka 3 might be able to do that in 2027 :)
Does a better job than my WORX Landroid
This would be perfect for my garden
Would love to see a follow up video of the Luba 10,000 😊
In progress... it's almost done too actually. I was working on Luba 2 video first but got carried away by Yuka. Coming soon...
This would make life easier for me!
Amazing how much robomowers advance year over year.
Yep, finally the change has come... I expect it to keep speeding up too now!
Very impressive!
What happens when the dumping area fills with grass? How often would you need to assign a new dump zone in order to not just have a massive like of grass.
I have Luba1 and don't really notice the grass clippings as it mows frequently. Would be nice to get rid of the leaves and sticks though, just not sure upgrading is worth it yet
Tbh, the dumping spots should barely fill up if the grass is kept short all the time as clippings are minimal. In this scenario, I had to clear it a lot though.
I'm looking forward obaying our robotic overlords
This looks just what i need
Looks great
Wow looks amazing
At the time of mowing, was it too wet to cut with a traditional lawnmower?
We have a luba 10000 (version 1), if we got a Yuka would you need to have 2 RTK's or can the Luba and Yuka share?
The original Luba needs a different RTK unfortunately
