Sir Why we are not adding extra 1 bit with X ( = 8 ) for identify R type or I type , is it would be (8 + 1) = 9 ? Because ( 8 -1) = 7 bit is able to handle only 128 instructions . Please clarify this doubt.
150 gets divided into 75 & 75 so R & I both having opcode size of 7 & 7 for operation and to distinguish between R & I we take one bit extra that is 7+1 which is 8 ..Which is also logbase2 (150) .
