    Your views on genetics are very refreshing. I’m so tired of people going on and on about how limited we are to genetics. I am not one to be limited to anything. I want long hair, I have long hair, and I shall get longer hair. Thanks for this.

    Genetics determines hair color, texture, thickness. You can grow your hair long. Taking care of it and overall general health will do it...

    Any average Jamaican Rasta Farian growing his hair for 10 yrs plus will prove Africain hair grows. It's the hair care process that determines length.

    I started using shea butter, olive and coconut oil on my scalp to help with hair growth. Although I don't like the smell of shea butter, but it works. I also added Rosemary, lavender, tea tree oils in the mix. My hair grew a lot. I had cut my hair the size of my pinky finger.

      @@DynamicTouch I want my hair to keep growing. As Shaerae Delosol would say trying to get that booty length hair or past it. One of my grandmom'ds had hair past her thigh, so I'm just trying to see will mine get there too.

    • @DynamicTouch
      @DynamicTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      High five, I can relate! Some reach their goals and cut their hair and other keep on growing! Really cool to see your grandmother's hair has grown past her thighs. I don't know who is Shaerae Delosol, but gaining booty length hair or past it are goals that many women can relate to and do themselves desire to obtain. There's no shame in pursuing your hair goals, as Dory once sang: "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming."

    There are tons of be on TH-cam who said they didn’t have long hair until properly learning to care for it. I’m one of them.Most people have hair that grows 6 inches every year,their entire life which means in 6-8 years we can all have waist length hair. So people saying this are just ignorant and don’t know what they are doing

  • @awoman5363

    Genetics determines how FAST your hair grows not how long your hair can be

    • @DynamicTouch
      @DynamicTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think many are too persuaded by the "genetics" conversation that they become hindered from trying to learn how and what works for their hair. Hopefully this video helps to break down these barriers. Yes, genetics determines how fast your hair grows, but I also believe that with Jesus this to can be overcome as well.
      Thanks for commenting and for stopping by!

    • @LaFlor718
      @LaFlor718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I completely agree! Anyone can grow long hair, but some people need a bit more patience to reach their desired goal. My man has long 1a hair and his genetics allows his hair to grow way faster than your average person (he went from waist to tailbone in a year), but he practically rips it out with a brush so I have to cut off 5-7 inches at a time. My hair grows normal to fast (type 3b/c) but I’m gentle with my curls, so I can go for years without a trim. Genetics count but environmental factors and self care matter even more imo. And let’s not forget dietary choices as well.

    You've just gained a new subscriber. Everything spoken in this video is TRUTH. I focus mainly on my hair health instead of length and trying to RETAIN what I have grown thus far. I usually wear my hair in its natural state (i.e., two strand twists) and have a CONSISTENT regimen when caring for my hair. I just gave my hair a trim (dusting) and I was never a fan of blunt cuts, which in my opinion, leads to more splits. I just make sure to trim single strand knots, etc. Although my hair care regimen is simple, I keep it CONSISTENT. Thanks so much for this video. One of the best videos that I have watched in a long time! Looking forward to more from you :)

It's really awful that one experience with a hairstylist has changed the trajectory of your mother's hair health & hair growth. Hi I really enjoy your videos and have learned alot . I am natural but I want to start back heat training my hair , because I want a change from my curls and I want to try something different for a while . Do not get me wrong I love my natural hair curly but its a chore I am also tired of all the natural hair nazis with their dos and donts what products you can use and so on. Their routines of 6 hours or more is ridiculous for their hair not to be any longer or look any better No Shade I need something simple .I have seen some of the naturals who dont use heat or chemicals hair look worse than the ones who do. Ive seen the ones using heat and chemicals with long healthy hair while naturals who dont use heat hair look dry brittle and busted up. I do think hair can grow using heat also when the heat is applied correctly So I would like to start heat training my hair and see how it goes Since the weather is cooler I was thinking start off for six months and see what results I get . Its just hair i want to have fun with mine and if I dont like it i can easily shave it off and start over . Sorry such a long post anyway I have a question how often do you wash and flat iron your hair and on what setting and temp. Do you use a heat protectant or not ? Im also glad you spoke about genetics. Alot of people seem to think that what grows hair while Im sure it plays a part i dont think its the full reason I personally think that you have to take care of yourself from the inside internal and it helps with hair growth on the outside . If you are not taking care of your self health wise then this will affect your hair . I believe in the saying We are what we eat

    Black natural curly hair IS more fragile than straight hair. Due to the chemical bonds that form the curls. These are long established facts.
    And that’s ok. Our hair is still great. It just needs more care and gentleness.
    Even caucasians or other non-black people with curly hair have more fragile hair than those with naturally straight hair.

    Does chebe powder really strengthen the hair? Mine is prone to breakage and I want it to be stronger so that I am able retain length

    • @DynamicTouch
      @DynamicTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello, I have not used Chebe powder personally. However, Chebe is used by women in Chad to retain / lock-in moisture. Often-times, it is not used as intended or it is utilized incorrectly (non-traditionally) which can further increase dryness and breakage. For those having trouble with dry hair & breakage (when used in its original/traditional way), they will benefit the most from its usage. However, it will not strengthen the hair.
      I do offer more personalized hair care support. If you are interested, please check out: The Waiting Room NHB at www.thewaitingroomnhb.com/

      I belive it does! Ive used chebe powder to make a mist because the powder is annoying and if it goes on the scalp it really goes itchy. I spray the mist on the ends and it has helped with less breakage and of course lenght retention. Karkar oil is something that helps with hair growth. It also comes from Africa and you can put this on the scalp and hair. Using both does make a difference to my hair. I have 4c hair but my hair texture kinda chaged and made my curls a bit more on the looser side.

    I'm lazy but I'm lucky to have long hair run in my family so it grows without doing anything special to it besides brushing or perming. God took pity on me lol

      Maybe that's the secret though... Hair likes to be left alone! My motto is now "do the right thing, at the right time, the right way, the first time." Along with good old K.I.S.S.
      Overnight oil treatments, oiling my ends every few days and nightly scalp massages are probably the only things I do that would count as "extra". But even that isn't so bad, they just take a few minutes.
      It's the little things. People could do the exact same routine, but if one person rips through their hair with a comb, towel dries it like they're sanding a table, and does ten passes with the flat iron, they will be bald. And nobody can help them until they figure it out.

      Everyone in your family knows the less you do the more it grows. Trim as needed, the less manipulation the better your hair will grow.

    Our people have long hair… it is genetics but people just need to get educated.
    If a mother has thin hair she can have a child who then has thin hair.
    Receding hairlines.
    Yadda yadda.
    We just lacked the knowledge for the basic reasons i hate mentioning (slVery).
    You also can always defy your genetics as well! Its all about what /you/ do and not what your family:ancestors have not or have done.

    • @DynamicTouch
      @DynamicTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello!
      To the first point, genetics can only take you so far, it will not retain length.
      For the second point: Yes, I agree. There is a lack of education when it comes to haircare and desired growth, and the information out there is usually muddled. That is why we started our program, to help young women and girls. We assist them with hair education based on how they wish to style their hair.
      Concerning your last point: people can defy their genetics because genetics is not the sole (or only) reason for extreme hair growth.
      (Concerning family and ancestors) What I meant was that many (but not all) people do not believe they can achieve a certain thing until they see others achieve it first. This is also known as becoming inspired. Many people do not believe that they can achieve long hair because no one around them has achieved it, therefore stunting their hair capabilities without giving themselves a chance. This can apply to anything in life, like getting a degree, buying a home, traveling and living abroad etc.

    How often do you silk press once month or once a week

    • @DynamicTouch
      @DynamicTouch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi! Just for reference, my sister Musu is the Heat trained natural. I (Jasso) am just a regular natural who doesn't flat iron my hair often. My schedule is very different, I will be coming out with a video explaining this later.
      Musu started off flat ironing her hair once a month, she recently began experimenting with flat ironing her hair once every two months (She has been testing this out for the past 4 months.)
      She will be coming out with a video on what it is like wearing her hair out 24/7 for 4 months (with only 2 flat irons during the whole 4 month period.)
      How often you choose to flat iron your hair depends on the individual. I would never flat iron my hair once a week, this is not wise for most women with 4 textured hair. In most cases, it will lead to extreme breakage early in the heat training process ( within a couple of months all your hair will break off).

      Jesus cares about me and all others. Jesus cares about my life and everything that entails day-to-day life. God is alive, present, and actively working in my life every day, every minute, every second.
      I believe nothing is too small or too big that God can't handle. No limits to God's strength and capabilities!
      Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
      "Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
      And lean not on your own understanding;
      6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
      And He shall direct your paths."
      Jeremiah 33:2-3 NKJV
      " Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ "
      1 John 5:14-15 NKJV
      "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."
      Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
      "Fear not, for I am with you;
      Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
      I will strengthen you,
      Yes, I will help you,
      I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ "
      Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
      "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

    Why would God care about growing our hair when there are more important things going on in the world? I can't connect God with hair growth. That entire concept seems completely narcissistic to me.

    amazing video! 17:49 very true and happens to a lot of black women or all women of all races & body sizes. even happens to guys too. some women don’t identify with themselves without weave, makeup, surgery or filters on. i actually found myself only identifying w/ myself when i have weave on or a snapchat filter on. it wasn’t until 2020 i started identifying with my natural hair. the natural hair movement is definitely a beautiful thing. it helped me. i love walking around nowadays and seeing ladies (& even guys) with wash n gos or twist outs 😭🥰🤍

    I just want to say growing 0.5 inches of hair is actually not common. It is not common at all. I know everyone makes this claim even cosmetologists but it is false. I shaved my hair completely bald, and at the end of the year despite not being able to see any visible breakage my hair only measure 5 inches, and I have measured my daughter hair after a year of protective styling and my brothers wife and no one was able to achieve 6 inches in that year. My daughter who was 6 at the time (She is now 11 yrs old) only grew 3.5 inches! I'm not saying growing 6 inches is impossibly but it's hugely effected by diet. When I was vegan I measure my hair growth at 7 inches in 1 year, and also when I ate a normal (western) diet and took just a multivitamin everyday I measure 6.5 inches.
    I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer in saying it is impossible except under certain conditions, but I feel it should be said because majority of women won't be taking multi vitamins (daily - [unless pregnant]), or are eating the standard western diet will not achieve this kind of growth, and may feel like they are under performing or have abnormal genetics.
