Oh man somebody through the modules at this car and caused a lot of extra work but it was a great opportunity to experiment with programming a Used Global A BCM.
Jake, you are a good man for trying to help us technicians out here! It used to be that people didn’t want to be giving away their information because they thought they would be helping their competition. There’s so much work out here now and so many people there, there’s not enough techs that know this information! Good video. Got to love global a vehicles. Ran into a 2018 Denali that wouldn’t start or program due to all used modules the junk yard put in, throwing nothing but identifier codes. That was a fun one. Keep up the great work
I've read and heard about people verginizing GM modules using GM development programming system or DPS V 4.2 or newer. Have you tried it before? And do you have a copy of it that you can share with us? Thanks for the great info in this video
The final outcome was bad, but watching you remove and calibrate the prom on that TopDon tool, then go through the initial programming was GREAT! you've got to know what your doing and it's obvious you're on top of all this. Good One!
@@autodiagyt there is definitely an issue with j2534 claim of the product. Supposedly the engineers in the USA are working on it. I ended up getting a Mdi2 as well.
Wow thats crazy! We had a guy tow his car to the shop yesterday for a steering and suspension evaluation. Go to start the car to pull on the shop and the engine has 0 compression on 3 cylinders and 30 PSI on the other one.
Im in the market for a laptop to use when flashing/programming...any recommendations on what to look for? will be trying to use it for mostly all domestic brands no euro stuff for me.
Well that was a crazy turn of events. I know you ran with what the customer told you, but I have to wonder if some preliminary tests shouldn't have been done first before spending all that time. Or perhaps checking as soon as the rust started to appear.
Have you run into a BCM that won't setup? 14 Sierra new BCM, programming went perfectly but setup won't run. Keeps giving me brake pedal sensor won't learn and won't go through rest of setup. Any advice would be appreciated.
That’s one reason I love the Andromeda Labs AR32A for eeprom stuff. Never an issue reading/writing in circuit and it saves a lot of time soldering. Just have to have a laptop with a full size serial port to use it. Good job sifting through the madness on this one man. You gotta love the project cars 😂

I'd be looking for a different EPROM programmer rather than being tied to your scan tools. No need to connect to wifi and you can name the files anything you want.
Could have also been just a blown seized motor and not a flood. If it's a seized motor only, it still has hope. The owner can get a cheap motor at a cheap junkyard and install it himself or get a cheap mechanic. If it was indeed flood, then the motor is seized, the transmission flooded too, and the computers are all oxidized, and the connectors, etc. It's done for. You can check for flood if it has signs of mud or water intrusion inside. Or inside the motor too.

well there is a thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but at least you had a bit of fun doing some programming experiments with out to much risk of messing up the car . and learnt a couple of things on the way . nice job my friend looked like there was some fun to be had 👌 even if that car is off to the razor blade making factory . pity would have loved to seen that run if the engine was not junk 👍
In autorepair world there is no way cheap..whenever customers go that way it always winds back to more expensive track😢..great work and cheat through unnecessary technical barriers..cheers

Man if someone could do a video on how the computer car computer thinks and operates and what information goes to what part of the computer and all that it would make programming a lot more easier to understand
Fantastic job, Jake! Unfortunately, for nothing - that car is an expensive brick. If it wasn't for what was learned and the virgin eprom data file, this would have been a complete waste of time and money.

Cool experiment with the virgin EEPROM! What blows by mind is that you can't program a key with the HVAC module offline... Like what the heck 😆
