Some are of the period while others could have been written over fifty years earlier but they are all charmingly melodic and played affectionately. Incidentally the score is available free on the internet.
Delightful piano textures, the harmonies are often brilliant. I sense that sequences play an over prominent part in the composition and direction of the music, but then again the rhythmic play is a delight and the pianist shapes the capricious moments so well. I am glad I found a copy of the score in an Oxfam bookshop, it will be well worth the study.
Have just ordered an original edition copy of these fine pieces from Augener. I have learnt Matthew and Dolly No. 2. Wonderful.@Ken Hannaford - you were very lucky to find a copy in the Oxfam shop!

Absolutely agree they should be better known. I have been playing Children's Pranks and Dolly no. 2 and gain considerable enjoyment from these.
Makes me think of Schumann's "Scenes of Childhood".....
Exciting, flowing performances. Thank you for posting; they should be known better.
