  • Next, secondly, we begin to realize the complexity of human nature, character when we are in the presence of God, in the light of God's holiness that penetrates the heart. Because there we just realize who we really are, how our condition is really like filthy rags. So we can understand why the psalmist said in Psalm 19:13, "Who can know the error? Deliver me from what I am unaware of." The word 'unaware' in the original text is satar , which means closed, hidden, or sealed. So it is closed, and opens when we really want to achieve the cleanest holiness.
Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately hardened and hardened. Who can know?” People are getting smarter, more cunning. If a person is not enlightened by the Holy Spirit in the light of God's holiness, then he does not know himself. So, first of all , we must be ambitious to have the desire to achieve perfect holiness. We must apply the slogan "I will never sin again", even though in reality we can still be wrong, and every time we make a mistake we will feel very hurt. We have to go through a process. In the future, we will face trials according to our abilities. So we can certainly bear it, even if the persecution is as severe as anything, we are certainly able so that we can still live holy lives.
Second, always be in the presence of God. The more we pray, the more we can see our broken state. Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts; See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!” In the original Hebrew text, “Are there any idols?” It turns out that we can become idols, because we want to enjoy what we think is fun, not what God thinks is fun. Why are we talking like this? Why do we do this and that? Because we enjoy doing that.
A person who is worked on by God - character, attitude, manner , disposition - will not be a 'threat' to others. We have authority and people can be hesitant and afraid, but not feel threatened. And people like this will definitely be blessed by God. So, if we resolve our self-complexity, then we become people who will not hurt people or will not easily hurt people. But evil people will be hurt by our kindness and purity of heart. But it is not our fault. So, humble ourselves, and recognize that we are bad with all our cunning. And God tests, Revelation 2:23, "I am He who tests the minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works."
Let us start now trying to become as pious as possible, as holy as possible. How to truly please God, to please God. If we understand this from a young age and try to improve ourselves, then we will become very great people. If we have already become old, it is difficult to change. It is possible, but it requires very hard work. For example, when we see someone who has hurt us, we don't question it, we just keep quiet. But honestly, what is in our hearts? Do we still harbor hatred and anger? Who can read that? That is one of the complexities of human beings.
If we are not humble, we will never be whole people. And frankly, if we talk like Jesus, it is abstract. Because this cannot be expressed in words. The Holy Spirit guides us to the whole truth, including this complexity. John 2:24 says, “But Jesus himself did not entrust himself to them, because he knew them all.” We should be ‘trembling’ when we read this verse. What if God does not entrust us with something because he knows us as untrustworthy people? That is terrifying.
So, if we do not fix the complexity of our character, then we will never be a blessing. No matter how we try to elevate ourselves, we will never have a broad impact. We will never produce superior humans if we are not superior. God often allows certain things to happen so that we can see whether the water in our bucket of life is murky or not. So, if the water is not stirred up, then it is not visible whether it is murky or not. But when there is a problem, where we are touched, offended, then it is visible. Or God gives us the opportunity to be great, famous, praised by people; do we remain humble or become arrogant?
