For someone that is supposed to be a Federal agent and security expert, telling (and showing) his father-in-law Jacob the video of her affair from that day, he could possibly tip his daughter off that there were cameras and microphones in the house, thus Mike would likely not be able to gather further evidence as to what they were plotting. He should have never shared that evidence.
