Ban foot was I was born and reared, there used to be a raft of sorts and to reach the other side it had to be pulled by rope, a family called Wilsons lived beside it. E. Turkington

Any evidence to support the foe theories? I would say that the sand dredging is enhancing the habitat for the lower parts of the food chain on the Lough, particularly for the chironomid midge larvae. The abundance of Chironomidae in freshwater systems and their sensitivity to environmental conditions make them ideal environmental indicators.
There are more chironomid midge larvae per square metre in the areas where the sand is dredged than any where else on the Lough.

If the so called friends if the earn had to fork out for court and barrister fees instead of using tax payers money to fund their days in court they would not be there as often

if there was no dredging, silt levels would increase and the rivers into the lough would be more susceptible to flooding, also the marinas around the lough would be impacted as keel boats would get grounded, already the six mile water has to be dredged to keep the channel deep enough for boating

+neil brady this is not dredging...at no point is dredging mention this is EXTRACTION OF GLACIALY DEPOSITED SAND , nothing to do with keeping channels silt free ,all to do with someone making a killing at the loss of the habitat the lough has enjoyed for tens of thousands of years...

Most people live in a house or maybe in your case a cave.Whats makes the blocks, concrete floors, plaster, tiles on the roof and so on come from that's right mostly sand so what to hell do you want for people to dig a hole in the ground and live in it.Go catch yourself on and get a life that's in the real world

      Aggregates can be recycled.

When more being built than knocked down and a shortage of housing that's a foolish comment again and only a fraction of a house or building can be reclaimed any but you can make a difference let your house be demolished for a doorstep on a new build

There isn't a shortage of housing. There are plenty of empty properties.
Most of the aggregate in a demolished building can be reclaimed. In addition, alternative, sustainable building materials can be used.
