    I love this over-the-top miracle series. Over the top is such a bad word and that needs to change. There are so many ways path, fact to path, lie angle and face twist can marry up to create something functional. Great work!

    As a Canadian, I was fortunate enough to learn as a junior from Mr. Knudson and then his protégé Ben Kern as I was growing up. Helped set me on my way of becoming a PGA member. George was simply an incredible striker of the ball, lost his battle with cancer too early as he had just started putting all his ideas down for the masses. If you have a chance watch his instructional video "The Swing Motion" filmed in Bermuda and his book written with Lorne Rubenstein " Natural Golf Swing"
    You will find little golden nuggets spread out through both.

    Christo, I bought the OTT (42 min) video. Great stuff. It worked right away. First time I felt comfortable with a full, no sway, hip turn on the backswing. As long as I keep the shoulders closed and left arm pressed to chest on the downswing, the ball comes out at 1 o'clock and draws back to 12 noon. Medium height.

    Well done again Christo with this Knudson video. This is a bit serendipitous for me as I wanted to mention him to you.
    Quick story I took lesson fron George in 1981 and 1982 at The National Golf Club in Toronto. I even played 18 holes with him. He was indeed a purest at ball stricking. If he could have putted he would have been a dominant player.
    He was also a very kind hearted man with his time and knowledge....he would say. "You don't play golf to relax...
    You need to relax to play golf, tension free "
    Keep up the good work mon ami..

      He would say that we need to remember that golf is a target game thus everything must finish at the target full weight on the left side so u could stand on one leg and pose for a picture.
      One time he asked me to pick a target and in turn pointed at a tree in the range...His reply was...No no I meant which branch. He was that good Christo.
      The sound, the crispest of the strike every time was a real treat to see.
      Finally the story goes that he and Moe Norman would compete to see how many pins they could hit in a round.
      That's a whole different level of accuracy.

    The look of the move left in the downswing is a result of the move down on the right leg and the right shoulder going down more than around. It is not the right shoulder dropping, but the right shoulder pressuring to support the throw. The pressures that are the cause of the look are what is important. The intention to smash the ball leads to the rotation you see

  • @stevenstewart3171

    In a swing where the entire club is moved as a cohesive unit, without any levering motion of the shaft and with "passive hands," as George Knudson described, the club maintains its plane throughout the backswing, which is often misperceived as an inside swing. However, due to the golfer’s intent to direct the club towards the target-where the shaft at some point aligns with the base of the target-and the intention to finish at full height, the circular motion of the club in the forward swing naturally shifts linearly towards the target. This can create a subtle perception of an over-the-top move, but in reality, the club remains on its plane. Many golfers who actually swing over-the-top do so without fully engaging the entire club in its purest sense, nor do they properly direct the club towards the target where the shaft points at its base during the forward motion. In general, the perception of the swing as a backward and downward motion, instead of a backward and forward motion in which everything moves in the same direction at the same time, results in a variety of poorly coordinated motions. Golfers who succeed in spite of this have to shallow the club in the forward motion. Knudson did not have to shallow the club. All this aside, Knudson's book is called "The Natural Golf Swing" for a reason -- when you know where the club is going and you can visualize it, then the swing motion becomes a response to the target without any technical or mechanical thoughts whatsoever.

      The momentum of his left side pulls that trailing foot forward. Akin to a parachute that deploys on a drag racing car something has got to slow him down otherwise he would overshoot the runway and crash into the trees, unless of course he has wings which would likely fly him all the way to Pinehurst non stop.

    Also at 4:23 his right hip has rotated inside that first dot you put on the screen, anyone and everyone who early extends this is the absolute perfect example of how the hips should move, back, across and up, NEVER around. His hands have so much room to just rip through the ball 👌

    george knudson was years ahead of his time. very few players swung the club the way he did. in those days the focus was on getting the club to parallel at the top. but, that only puts the swing out of kilter. and, if you focus on his right clavicle you can see how he works it in tight, in the backswing. obviously, the right arm plays its part in this; but, it is very notable how he swings into a deep position. hogan did the same. but, hogan's right arm pressed across his right clavicle at the end of his follow thru. his slow mo swing drill was probably key to this.

  • @redhzarahim2690
    @redhzarahim2690 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Hi Christo, your definition of OTT is not the universally accepted over the top move. Hogan, Knudson and others you quoted never did an OTT move. Hogan always striked the ball from the inside as clearly demonstrated by the 2 glass planes. Let us not confuse the public

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm using the terminology used by Jim McLean, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo, and Johnny Miller. It's clear to the eye the downswing plane is over the backswing plane. The public has been confused enough by all of the modern technical gobbledegook.

    • @redhzarahim2690
      @redhzarahim2690 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      OTT occurs due to an overuse of the upper body on the downswing. As a result the club will be thrown on the outside of the intended swing plane with the club head approaching the ball from outside to in. I repeat, Hogan never employed OTT. Please set the record straight. Your OTT definition is disingeneous.

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@redhzarahim2690 I'm not disingenuous, as I mentioned the other greats (Jim McLean, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo, and Johnny Miller) that described these great swings the same as I do. In fact, I'm quite honored to be in the position to set the record straight. All the modern swing teachings are garbage, and the Over the Top Miracle Swing is the best way to swing a golf club. That said I, I also understand the terms inside hand path as well as shallowing the club, getting in the slot etc. IMHO using name “Over the top miracle Swing” is ether a brilliant marketing tool or a possible turn off to the vast number of golfers who may reject your model prior to investigating it due to the negative connotation of the term OTT that they have heard is to be avoided at all costs. Hey Christo, I'm a fan of your work however I think you may be misguided with regard to over-the-top. My understanding of over-the-top, and I'm a golf coach, relates to what Hogan referred to, in Five Lessons, as the glass plane. Wouldn't over-the-top refer to breaking the glass of the plane, the plane running from the shoulders to the ball. This usually occurs by starting down incorrectly with the upper body? If the back swing starts well to the inside of the plane, you would then have plenty of room to get back on plane, or under the plane, therefore never truly going over-the-top. My point here is that over-the-top generally refers to going above the plane, starting down incorrectly with the shoulders, and cutting across the ball and thereby slicing. If your takeaway path, swings to the inside you have plenty of room for a sledgehammer type swing ala Bruce lietzke, and you would never go over the top plane, even with a cut swing.

    Hey Christo, I have followed you for awhile now and relate to your enthusiasm for the golf swing. I have to say that I give you a lot of credit for going against 99% of "modern" instruction and promoting the OTT swing. It's interesting that I have always been aware that some of the great swingers of past have swung OTT (but inside to the target line) most notably in my mind, Slammin' Sammy and Bobby Jones but I readily dismissed it as being a swing from another era and not relevant now. That said, I had no idea how many past top professional golfers were OTT'ers! I realize now how myself and the majority of other golfers have been brainwashed over time into believing the downswing must be on a shallower plane than the backswing to have success in this game! As you have most certainly proven by your many recent posts on this subject, this couldn't be further from the truth and is keeping most of the golfing public from truly enjoying this great game! Keep on keepin' on my friend and you just might be solely responsible for creating a golfing revolution! (seriously).

George can be seen In Jimmy's older videos (the ones from Doral). I see a few things that he would suggest for you. Watch his videos and you will figure it out. He advocates more lateral movement and finishing on a flat left foot with the weight towards the big toe. (Something George worked on). Something Jimmy told me was that George was prone to taking it "too much" inside. If you could take video with Jimmy, that would be GOLD, but I'd be surprised if he would let you video anything. Cristo, I've got a riddle: So if the arms are swinging and accelerating around the body, is it the club AND the arms, or do these react in a manner 100% opposite to each other? Like if we swung a door shut, surely we wouldn't expect the hinges to come with the door. In fact they are exact opposites. So is it possible that somebody like ben hogan might have exactly 50% of that equation coming over the top. Where's the other 50? And does this have to with bowing down that left wrist? Does the wrist bow more or less if it's out in front of the hands or behind them....hmmm.... Yes he does deliver with his hands outside the backswing path but this doesn't mean it's a traditional 'over the top' golf swing as is generally accepted. He still delivers on an inside path and you can see his shoulders are still closed coming into impact. Yes, clearly he has some resemblance to Hogan.

    So next time put a mark where his hands are at address before he starts the takeaway. Then mark his hands at impact…. You’ll see he and all these other supposed OTT swingers will return there hands to same spot if not lower…. And not over the top. If hands where higher and shaft was steeper that would be OTT.

      I could get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it! I'm using the terminology used by Jim McLean, Tom Watson, Nick Faldo, and Johnny Miller. It's clear to the eye the downswing plane is over the backswing plane. The public has been confused enough by all of the modern technical gobbledegook.

    Knudson hated Hogan's swing and thought he was over-rated. Thoughts?

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My thoughts are that that is incorrect. All I have ever heard is how Knudson admired Hogan and learned to keep his left foot stable after watching Hogan.

    Knudson had the same swing when he played at St. Charles Golf Club in Winnipeg before he turned pro. It is what he grew up with. A lot of people swung like that at the time. It can work but it is not the best way to swing. Stick with principles not idiosyncrasies. IE, do not copy Moe Norman!

  • @Pjkoko
    @Pjkoko 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why take the club to the inside having to immediately make an out movement of the shoulders to make a correction? I know a lot of good players did it but not deliberately. It was a remnant of old teaching that was characterized by taking it back to the inside. Why not simply take it back straight and on plane from the start.

      I'm a huge Duval fan, and his appearance on the Golf Channel with Charlie Reimer was one of the most important pieces of film ever. I see Duval has a great throw, but I wouldn't quite call it over the top because his takeaway is down the line. Is there something I'm not seeing?

    Wow.
    Making a course to teach people how to swing like George Knudson.
    Seriously?
    George wrote a book called The Natural Golf Swing that was published a few months before he died.
    His book describes the whole theory and method of his swing.
    No throwing balls, over the top(!?) miracles or other such profiteering nonsense required.
    My opinion is that people should maximise their money, time and effort by ignoring this "course" and just buying George's book instead.

    Show me more than a handful of players that don't have their hands in front at P5 where they were at P3? Furyk, maybe Couples with his late trunk rotation? I can't think of anyone else. This is the result of the body opening up on the downswing so where are the hands going to go but out in front? So this "result" is not a fundamental at all, no more than getting 12.7 degrees of lean at P7 with the shaft (they are effects). Some people are still playing checkers I suppose vs playing chess. Golf is a game that now has progressed with video technology, motion sensors, etc to the point where there isn't much argument in "what" an elite golfer is doing but more 'how" is he doing it. Ben Hogan knew this 80 years ago, it was demonstrated in Ralph Mann's computer model which is a composite of 50 tour players in the 80s. Show me when you fix your goat humping and I will shut my mouth, and not from stills at P7, actual full swings. Fix that and you can thank me later for being petulant now.
