These pharmaceutical companies really broke the system, corrupted it. It’s a da*m shame.
Then again, Congress and Senate need information from all important parts of the country, including large businesses. So they also need contact persons. My suggestion would be to finance congresspeople and senators by tax money, providing them with a fixed amount of money for their office. And then have strict regulations for donations, including full transparency.
“In 2009 the DEA slapped McKesson, the countries largest distributor of pharmaceuticals with a $13.4 million fine!” Wow, I bet that taught them a lesson...
If I were a DEA officer and watched my own government and my fellow agents turn on me I would assume that they had been paid off, and then I would black ops those fools in the dark.
DEA and FDA Directors do what Senators and president staff tell them to do. Pharmaceutical industry finance political campaigns and good money to doctors and scholars to testify in public hearings. The corruption inside the congress had been there for a long time.

Sara Marcoux we are talking about a different strain of drugs here. In Portugal they decriminalized the consumption and channeled the money otherwise spent on busting users , into treatment, on the addiction of recreational drugs. The Portuguese Law Enforcement still does bust and seize illegal drugs trafficking. So what they did was to decriminalize possession of small quantities and offer treatment to those caught. Get your facts right

the us is the only country that allows regulators to go and work for the companies they are regulating immediately after. creates a massive conflict of interest.
legalize all drugs. Tax them and really help the people. you can't stop the supply and demand by just take away the supply. That's the war on drugs and it's failed.
What we really should be asking ourselves is why this is regulated distribution to begin with. Why does the government get to tell me how to handle my physical pain?
Because those who are unable to educate themselves are not able to protect themselves from predatory doctors. Chances are that you can't educate yourself either even if you have access to the relevant papers because the relevant studies require too large a medical knowledge to properly interpret. In addition, even if you could interpret them, it would be a huge time burden on yourself. Their job is to help us not harm us and the enforcement of regulation is forcing the doctors to do their job instead of purely pursuing money.
Yet further examples of the current state of things. As long as bribery is allowed to exist under the guise of labels such as lobbyism, or such obscene political ideas as "Corporations are people and money is speech", we will continue to have a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. We the people allowed this to happen. Those that own this country don't care about us any further than considering us a financial resource to be harvested.
