Yeah, it's awesome. I think one of the biggest mistakes you can make with Byzantines is going super defensive and losing in the lategame because you didn't get the relics or additional ressources on the map. Yes, their knights are mediocre without bloodlines, but when you invest into the armor you automatically have cavalry that answers their counters, namely camels against other (better) knights, Light cav against monks and cataphracts against halberdiers. And knights with 4/4 armor, even without bloodlines, *demand* an answer from your opponent no matter what civ or strat they're playing.
