    My favourite reels are, for trout, Daiwa Certate 1003. For whiting squid etc, my Shimano Sustain 3000XG and for Snapper, Gummies etc my 2008 model Shimano Stella 5000. The Shimano Vanfords and Daiwa Luvias are also very good.

    • @fishingmad

      Some wonderful suggestions there. I agree the certate, sustain, stellas, luvias and vanfords are all excellent choices. Wish I had a few Stellas

    That twin power sounds fantastic mate. What a combo that is!

    • @fishingmad

      Yep its quite magnificent. Very happy with the combo. This buying is dangerous as id love a twin power SW or stella SWC for bigger stuff but i think I've exhausted my fishing budget this year well and truly.

      Thanks 👍Mario. Yeah I didn't find the big ones on that session, but was very impressed with the new combo. Hopefully next time I head out ill catch something big on it to really break it in. As always thanks for the support. Lets hope these lockdowns are over soon.

    Daiwa exceler is a great reel for all of the smallish fish such as trout, whiting, flathead, squid just to name a few. By far one of my favourite reels I’ve tried. For a rod I really like the NS Ones micro graphite rods. I mainly use it for fresh but I recon would still work well In salt for some of the smaller fish.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Alan love the videos and know this is a few year old now, however just a question what are your thoughts on the Twin Power C5000XC FD? would it be ok for the same fishing in this video or is it rated too big? Are the reels similar in size?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be to big, the compact 5000 reels are prefect for species like snapper, mulloway. They would be to big for pinkies and flathead that sort of stuff

    • @stevensilva1350
      @stevensilva1350 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      May I ask why you like the FD over the XD? I figured they look virtually the same with the exception of the MGL rotor. Are they not as smooth as the FD? I know the XD are made for the harsh environments

      Thanks !! Those turtleback worms come pre-scented so no need to. When I'm using Zmans streakz, Savage curltails, Daiwa Bait Junkies minnows if the bite is quiet than ill add some sfactor or procure but usually not straight away.

    I hate the turtle back worms, they do get a lot of hits but rip in half after one bite most times. And because they r so long I feel like they bite the tail and not the hook a lot and don’t hook up

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah then tend to last 1 decent bite and then there done for but fish love them. When targeting fish like whiting ill sometimes run a stinger/assist hook so i dont miss bites

    • @jewal01
      @jewal01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      U know I was thinking the other day when I was out how I could attach a hook closer to the tail of the worm and see if I get more hook ups. I Couldn’t come up with a way that wouldn’t ruin the action of the worm

      @fishingmad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
