This is really great for someone who has just set up the game and needs something to put it all together

I've watched tons of rule videos, and this is probably the most refined and understandable.. keep doing what you are doing..

Thank you very, very much for your feedback. I’ve made a lot of videos and explained a lot of games. It took a lot of time to figure out a format that was informative, not to lengthy, and not just an out loud reading of the rulebook. I will certainly keep making videos just like this.

I really enjoyed this high level teach of showing why you care about the things!

I've heard about variant of, besides your 6 hidden goals, you setup 4 general too. More points, but there's always something to do, and really to compete about. Haven't tried it though.

First off, the types of things you covered in this beyond the rules (like what the game’s draw is when you blend mechanics along with the dry theme) leads me to crown this as my favorite review of a board game I’ve seen yet.
As for the broad look overview, I think what you did is the perfect way to give us viewers the idea of what the game is about without slogging through too many specifics before we understand how to frame them.
    Kudos!!

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to write your feedback. Wow. I’m floored. I’m really trying hard to do what you just described, as I think many review videos are too long. Hearing your affirmation means so much. Thanks!

great job!! I grew up in Virginia all around shipyards and am very excited for this game's 2nd edition. Having many friends and family working in the shipyard, I actually loved the artwork. The phrase 'core loop' came to mind during your description. I don't know if that helps. But I really like how you presented this rather complex game.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear your enthusiasm for the theme. Someone else (on another video) suggested some ideas using the word "loop"... what does that mean? When I hear "loop" I think of something that gets repeated... does that mean that gameplay is just repeating this "loop" of strategic thought, or does "loop" mean something else?

I think of core loop as meaning those steps you generally repeat each turn. To me it doesn't imply doing exactly the same thing over and over. It's just the bare essentials. In Parks for example the core loop might be expressed as move hiker, check for rewards, check for additional actions.

@@theperfectboardgameIn fhe realm of video games, it might be something like how you progress in the game. Usually there is a series of actions that continues to build some sort of advantage to enable you to do further actions.
So, as an example I defeat a boss to get resources to craft equipment which allows me to defeat a better boss to get resources to craft better equipment which allows me to defeat a better boss and so forth.
There's a repeated series of activities or actions that build on each other. It doesn't necessarily need to "make you better" but usually for a sense of progression there's a gain of some sort. The core gameplay loop is what keeps you engaged even though the end result is gradual, incremental improvement.

I like this method of a (1) "Turn Demo" [Demostration] (2) "Turn Sample" (3) "Player X's Actions" [can even give the player a name you enjoy]
I haven't seen anyone do this yet, except in a full playthrough. There are plenty of "how to play" tutorials. While I still enjoy these as well, I find it beneficial to see how the actions work too. In my opinion, for the naming options I would avoid "Round" unless you are showing a sample for each player (i.e. 3 players etc.)

I also saw other comments on "Core" and "Loop". At first I didn't think anything of "Loop" and found it interesting; however, after you challenged me to think on it's context, I landed on: it could mean you found a neat combo/ never ending turn "loop"
just my two cents for consideration. Fyi, that note wasn't an immediate thought until really thinking on it.
additional name suggestions: "Core Potential [Available] Actions"
I'm not the best at naming, but just trying to grow the spitballing

Yeah. The idea keeps stewing in my mind and I keep changing my opinion. I like yours “Turn Demo”. It’s so basic, but maybe it needs to be basic. The name matters because, like you noted: this is a different way of teaching the game. For people who like it, they may want to search for more of my (or others’) videos.

@@theperfectboardgame I think you've created the next "style" of videos here opening a whole new perspective into the board game world. I, for one, like to learn the mechanics of a game (for understanding and being able to explain to the players). However, there is only so much you can "learn" beforehand until you run into a scenario that results in "um, I'm not quite sure on that, let me check again." 😂 I truly love this more hands on approach to add value to the understanding and demonstration aspects!
Can't wait to see other's thoughts too and you're continued growth!

Thank you for the encouragement. I am currently working on my review of White Castle, to follow this format.
