Spinach used to be my biggest challenge. My trays looked like yours until I started to use cold stratification of a couple days in the fridge. Looking forward ti hear how you solve for your go to method on this crop over time. Nice content on this vid. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience! I’ve heard of this and I’m going to look more into this. The other spinach did far better, I really thought that tray just wasn’t ventilated correctly.
You're basically reaching under slowly on the ends, and gently tearing off the squares! I usually do a row at a time. You can see this more in my transplanting video here: th-cam.com/video/0v1L5tW-0R0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l2nVjzHF0ZX1YPMa&t=103
Hello, can I ask how to get the PDS for the recommended amount of seeds for starting? I have started my first batch and they all pretty much failed and getting ready to start the second would like to see if my seed amount in each Rockwall is accurate. Thank you so much.
Hey! So sorry to hear that, the free PDF can be found by clicking the link in the description. No info or email needed, just on Google drive. Hope you crush the next round! Any other questions please let me know.
@@talktimewithcynthia5653 Yes; but it would need to be very fine dirt and I wouldn’t use much. Some don’t use vermiculite at all actually! Not necessary but should increase germination rates. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I'm using the nutrient water for my Tower Gardens, which uses a docetron to dose it. I'm sure it's a pretty standard mix, any nutrient fertilizer should help the lettuce take root and grow once it germinates!
I buy through Tower Farm, who's a distributor of a high quality rockwool made by Grodan. You can buy some off tower gardens website! I have a link in my bio. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@devonhouse356 Hi Devon. Yes you would use far more seeds, however Microgreens are grown in a standard potting soil like pro mix. These Rockwool sheets are for transplanting into my hydroponic towers. I don’t have any content about how to grow Microgreens yet unfortunately! Thanks for the comment and any other questions happy to help.
@@heavenbound78 I do not use them! Never had an issue without one. That's my experience at least! Thanks for the comment. Any other Qs please let me know.
@@MyraTanksley-r8c Hi Myra, so sorry to hear that. I just tested it and it’s working for me. 😭 I’m not sure what the issue is, it should go to my linktree and at the bottom is a free download link to Google Drive. Maybe try one more time? Thanks for your patience.
looks like you didn't plant them deep enough? Also, try soaking your seeds in water/hydrogen peroxide (3%) mix which will soften the outer shell and sterilize the seed, rinse the seeds, then put them in the rockwool.
Are you talking about the spinach? The other two trays did far better! Definitely open to looking into what you’ve shared, appreciate it. Someone else mentioned cold stratification too.
@@PlentyOfColor It’s recommended to do 8 because these are going into a hydroponic set up and not all typically germinate. They can handle a higher density when others can’t. Thanks for watching and the comment. Any others Qs let me know!

Ok ok, I’ve subscribed to your channel. “Cold stratification” huh?
Couple days in the fridge then what?
Help…
Congratulations
Hello, when seedlings are ready for planting, how do you get the out of the box?
You're basically reaching under slowly on the ends, and gently tearing off the squares! I usually do a row at a time. You can see this more in my transplanting video here: th-cam.com/video/0v1L5tW-0R0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l2nVjzHF0ZX1YPMa&t=103
How would you do succulents?
Great question, i've never tried before! I know they are less in need of water, so off the top of my head i'm sure i'd just be watering less.

Can you please experiment red amaranth seeds on rockwool?
@@Gaobdgao Not a bad suggestion! Maybe I can do this. Thanks for the comment.
If you don't have vermiculite, can you use dirt?

Thank you for your advice. Yes, but you put only water or some other fertiliser into that ?

where do you recommend getting rock wool from? I see some can cause poor germination

Hey Mike, thanks for the video! For microgreens, wouldn't you use a higher density of seeds (than in your guide)? Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking of trying microgreens in the tower garden! How many seeds do you think I should try? 20? 40? 😂
@@devonhouse356 Lol you know some people have done it in the high density towers. And that’s probably about the right amount!
hey mike, i didn’t see a propagation mat for the seedlings, is it necessary? great lights
