Another great AD&D video, Classic DM!
I find this series to be very inspiring. It's been a while back since I broke out the miniatures and grid, usually relying upon theater of the mind, especially for old school games, but your awesome maps and colorful minis illustrate their value. Using them adds a tactical element that is hard to do without the physical representation on the tabletop.

Thanks Fred Daniel! Your positive feedback is appreciated! I love the tactical and combat element of AD&D, so hopefully these videos share some neat ideas for other players and DMs who try and go back and play the original, but feel it's slow.

Now I know why Critical Role doesn't pull out the miniatures and grid mats :)) The only ones that have a chance at enjoying these tactical rules are the ones playing it, otherwise it sure is tough on the audience. You have a great set up, though, with the transparencies and illustrator skills. I would bring in another color though, and maybe some shading to define the background elements, but I'm sure you've done that before.

I also think the goal of Critical Role is that the actors are the entertainment as they bumble through adventures. It's kind of a Monty Python meets Little Britain meets 90210. :)

@@Classic_DM I like those walled homesteads. D&D campaign settings can definitely use these in farm country.

I admit I am WAY behind on CR and only a few episodes into the 2nd campaign but in those first episodes they totally used miniatures and detailed miniature set pieces. Does CR ditch that later on?
