    Dear Becca,
    Thank you for sending me the email linking me to this video. Once my brush lettering is up to a good standard I will be using this clever transfer method. I already have a light box so once I find some chalk I shall be good to go.
    You are such a relaxed and relaxing teacher.

    Hey Becca! I was wondering if you could do some tutorials on digitizing your calligraphy and what tools to use. Thanks 😁

    Very nice video. Easy to follow instructions. This my first time watching your video. I have not art skills beyond playing a musical instrument. So, with that stated, this is something that I feel confident enough to try. I better do it soon, so I do not forget! Thanks!

    This hack works great if you are transferring something onto wood if you use a 2B pencil and use an HB over the top. I use that method with logos and certain fonts for my woodburning/pyrography. Also if you use a projector that works just as well too. Especially for larger items.

    I’ve done this since I was about 12 years old. I didn’t realise it was a method, just thought it was a quicker way. Plus I also do neither draw over with pencil or scribble. I simply rub over the top of where I have traced with maybe the rounded end of the top of a pen. Saves you wasting your good pencil ✏️

    Hi this might seem like a strange question but how do you store and transport the chalk transfer paper you create without having it wipe off before you get it to your destination? Thanks.

  • @laenahorne2463
    @laenahorne2463 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could you just use a brayer or squeegee over the top of the paper instead of the pencil to apply the pressure for the transfer?

    Probably a dumb question but how did you get your actual calligraphy on a printed paper? Thx!

  • @jennifersjunkmail5935

    Instead of retracing with a pencil, would it work and be faster to just scrape over the paper with a piece of stiff plastic, like a credit card?

    • @TheHappyEverCrafter
      @TheHappyEverCrafter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you could! It's just that if your original chalk job was messy, all the mess will transfer. If you are super precise on the original chalk job, go for it!

  • @debbieshealy2223
    @debbieshealy2223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I used to be a sign painter and used the method where you perforate the letter then on the job you pounce through the perforations with a chalk or charcoal bag. I like this method but I'm wondering how you keep the chalk from smudging on a really big piece of paper during transport. Seems like even if you rolled it, you couldn't avoid smearing or erasing the chalk.

    • @annieschmid1121
      @annieschmid1121 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm super curious about that, too! Wondered the same thing.

    • @TheHappyEverCrafter
      @TheHappyEverCrafter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I roll my designs and it works totally fine! It's definitely messy, but enough chalk stays on.

    • @sharnawaller2995
      @sharnawaller2995 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't you fix the chalk?

  • @krisk6834
    @krisk6834 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it be possible to just run chalk longways over the back of the whole design then flip it over and trace, to save time?

  • @alward599
    @alward599 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m wondering if that first chalk tracing provides much benefit.I’ve had great luck chalking the back wherever the letters are instead of tracing each letter. Then you put your paper face up and now trace. This way you are only tracing once so it is even faster.

  • @irishdramaqueen

    If you don't have a light box you could also just hold it up to a window to see through the page, that's how I have always done it. I must invest in a light box though.

  • @hannahrose5739

    Can the finished sign be framed, that is, covered with glass--or would that affect the dried chalk pen lettering? Are these kinds of signs always meant to be open to the air? Thanks!

  • @nktmrie

    Can this be done on a watercolor paper?

  • @gisellem5896

    Would this work on a canvas too? And if so would I still use chalk?

    • @wanda9740
      @wanda9740 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A colored chalk would certainly work. Artists sometimes transfer images with light colored or white chalk.

    • @TheHappyEverCrafter
      @TheHappyEverCrafter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it'd work, or you can use graphite (pencil) the same way!

    6 and a half minutes commercial before a 10 min video, seriously? Unsubscribing immediately!

    Becca I have been a fan for about a year now and have slowly gotten away from your videos because of the amount of speaking you do. Although everything is informative would there be any way you would be willing to talk while doing the project?

    • @wanda9740
      @wanda9740 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a 10 min video, maybe put it on mute and watch her? I mean, even with issues I'm up against I can handle 10 min of video. If all of you were in my face, front and center I'd have to leave the room. One on one, in a video I'm okay to watch everything or watch part then come back. Heck idk, maybe someone knows another calligrapher who isn't as personable as our beautiful hostess? She certainly has quite a few friends in the spotlight from time to time, maybe one will fit the bill a little more. Pls don't ask her to quiet herself and lovely personality. God made her to shine don't shame her for doing just that! Blessings to you.

      Hey Stephanie, if my teaching style isn't the right fit for you that's totally ok! No offence taken. Like Wanda said above, there are tonnnnnnns of other instructors out there. I talk while I teach so that I can fully explain things as I go, otherwise there are many who will be left with questions unanswered.
      Mute is always also an option if you feel you already have all the answers.
