I hear that. I spent most of 91/92 tripping & e'ing my balls off listening to these, MBV, Spacemen 3 & Primal Scream. Are those mad summer nights going to all night outdoor raves, everyone just livin ine another, & to think i was doing & passed my A levels during this crazy time😂😄
Douglas Hart directed this, paper plates on fishing wire, hung over black drapes, was how the big dots were created, edted on low band umatic with color cranked to max levels. Think we shot it on 16mm but could have just been video. Edit would not be allowed now with all those flash frames. Oh I know all this as I ran the production company Momentum with friends Angi and Douglas too.
I really like the video, it captures a moment in time perfectly. It's a shame there's not a better quality version available on TH-cam; hopefully, the current copyright holder will do the song, and the video, justice by uploading a copy from the archive. This wobbly encoding needs an update.
Felt were an absolutely stonking band, it has to be said - I don't know the history, although I do know they originally released with Cherry Red label (I think). But they were on a Creation Records compilation double cassette I had, so they moved over to Creation, or did Cherry Red merge with Creation, really not sure. Anyway, they were on Creation too, eventually lol. Oh shut up, shut up lol! Simply: Felt were a great band. Nuff said lol.
My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Telescopes, Boo Radleys, Felt, Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, Ride, Swervedriver, Teenage Filmstars So many of my favorite bands passed through Creation Records.
This tune is so of it's time, it is unreal. It reminds me very much of the best of University days, the clubbing, buying records only when I could afford them, etc. The shoegazing scene would have been less complete without them.
God I haven't heard this in decades; that was __________________ beyond words I'm crying; I remembered suddenly how I used to listen to the song at 18-19, the parts I grooved to and looked forward to. Thank you Telescopes
You are part of the sky, fly away, away, awa Don't you need to feel the ground you cannot see? Everywhere in everything is something new to know, to feel Every part of the sky, beneath, there's angels at your feet And my eyes can't fail my mind Flying away You are waves on the sea, crashing down and down on me Don't you need to reach the sky you cannot feel? Sometimes when, you never smile, you always notice what you feel Every wave on the sea, I couldn't drown you should I please
I never thought I'd see the day when I'd have the opportunity to watch a Telescopes video, so thank you. I loved their Creation EP's, and I still mention the group to friends in the hopes that it will, in some way, begin to compensate for the relative lack of attention the band received back in '91.
That's super cool bro!! The Telescopes are one of the most under-appreciated bands ever. Nobody I live around has ever heard them until I showed them. I feel super lucky to have had know about them for as long as I have!
Feeling like when psychedelic wave rolled over Rolling Stones: 2000 Light Years From Home and Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour Also Pink Floyd and Elastica elements. Nice catchy dreamy music with enough swing and rhythm to acquire an ecstatic dance position. Thanks crelp74 for posting this (incl. the nice video) !!
The Telescopes' 2nd album is the most accessible, in my opinion. The song you just listened to here appeared on that record. The album and EPs from 1990 to 1991 captures a moment in time, perfectly.
@@Dunbar0740 right on thank you! Just yesterday I was thinking "who was that band I found a year ago?" and couldn't remember. Now I see your comment in my notifications and its the telescopes!!!
This is curve Cocteau twins single gun theory wrapped up in one nice earfull of infinite bliss.so sad these bands don't get fair radio play.bring more telescopes to the forefront.
yep.. and oh , yeah yep.. did i say thet twice.. i remember in 1991ish seeing that video with ride mbcv and primal scream saying to myself "hell yeah" the manchester stuff was o.k.. but this .. now this was something.. awesome music!
What a song. The likes of Ed Sheeran and the drivel nowadays couldn't hold a candle.. God I'm getting old but the early nineties was the last creative explosion of decent music
Best song this band did..does anyone know anything about filming a performance? How are these distorted colours done. Its 20 years ago, so i guess it doesn't require the latest gear now
@4712POMMES I mostly agree with you, but didn't this band predate Elastica? Plus, I generally hesitate using Elastica as a comparison band due to their overly-obvious raiding of other band's material. Anyway, that's merely semantics. If you want to her some great present day psychedelic rock, I recommend looking up the bands Black Moth Super Rainbow and Airiel. Both are very different but I think they carry the flag well and you may enjoy them. Cheers!
This is how the world looked and sounded like in 1991/92.
Newsflash: no it didn't.
on drugs

Stephen D'ARCY me too wonderful time ;)
Right colors taste sounds smells, right time!
Love her background vocals🙂
And how they alternate between actually singing the words and just going for those sustained high notes...so amazing!
SHES MY MUM THANK UOUUU
I've seen them performing in Lausanne on May 19th, 1993 along with The Boo Radleys, Adorable, Moose, The Faith Healers, Blur, Prodigy. The Legends
La crème de la crème 🎶🎼🎵😎🙏🏻🙏🏻

Seeing this on the telly as a 17yo in 91, it really left a strong memory. Great clip.

Lovely production, yess
The video for ‘Revolution’ by Spacemen 3 was similar. I love the colors.
Ah, the golden age of Creation Records. Telescopes, Slowdive...
And also my bloody valentine 🙂

I am cryin...this is my youth and almost the best days of my life
we're all crying now that Trump has been re-elected; worst years of misery are ahead now.

It's a beautiful maelstrom, a portal to a special time and place.
i Recorded their first 4 track demo recording.. and am a personal friend to all the band, this group is so much fun to be with !!!
That is one of the best tunes I've heard in years
this deserves to be on repeat
The 90s have such a charm. Pretty typical saying but it’s true. You don’t see interesting works of art like this in today’s age.
Wot an incredible toon!!! Loved this song from the gitgo.
All I want to do is watch endless reruns of the "Indie" section of the ITV Chart Show after listening to this again :-)
this lot were my faves absolutely class
great song - lovely backing vocals
Seen these live in Newcastle on their first tour…great live.

Not sure how I've missed them at the time but this is very good. Ambitious. I'm going to check out their other songs!

Fuckin' great band. That Creation LP is brilliant and it was so overlooked at the time of release.
I'd love to work on some bits with them.
This video is beautiful.
Probably the best song over when I’m rolling.
Grt tune nit heard for 20 yrs ago indie nites in manchester grt nites

RIP David, larga vida al rock
I Love them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep Music Evil
Great band. Great.
This has some serios Piper at the Gates of Dawn period Floyd vibe. His voice resembling Syd's and the overall psychedelic vibe may be the reasons.
The cycle continued here as the 60s saw a resurgence in all of media it was something the 90s hosted the 60s revival
lucky.. i consider myself lucky enough to get to see them this saturday ..
I bought the album (vinyl of course), and I'm surprised I didn't somehow wear out the section containing this song.
Note: Please refrain from viewing if you have epilepsy

I liked this shoegazing band back in the 1990s and loved Joanna Doran.
My eyes hurt in a good way
What a song. The likes of Ed Sheeran and the drivel nowadays couldn't hold a candle.. God I'm getting old but the early nineties was the last creative explosion of decent music
I totally agree, and I'm just turning ancient (70).
Shoegazing was great, and is great! Swirling, sparkling, dark and original. This group didn't really play their cards right. They were good!
purest psychedelia ever
F£&@ing perfection...
I agree . I too remember 'Shoegaze' as being a rather derogatory term - all very different now !
Am I the only one that can hear some resemblance between the guitar lick (eg at 1:25) and the Friends theme song opening?
No
Guys, you know that girl? Ya well that's MY MOM lol
super know the band personaly jamed with stev other week
great
añoramos...
This is cool where is this band form?
Burton-on-Trent, England
nice...
1992 wan't just all about Nirvana, thank God.
Great band that fell into the pre oasis/blur era when it all went horribly wrong.
Space Rock music..
Snub TV ;)

Perfect needle so gud
This ain't shoegaze, it's way more psychedelic than that.

Alguien sabe nombres de bandas shoeganzing en español?
My bloody valentine o Teles copes o Slowdive¿??¿???

Does anyone have the chords in order? I read someone posted some chords in a comment but they just don't sound right.
2:03 looks like the cover of Loveless.
Does anyone know the chords to this song? Thanks! x

Wow, thank you so much! x
Make me thing about a mashup between my bloody valentine and the music of the generic of Friends
F*cking horrible video, but one of my all time favorite songs; goosebump inducing.
who are they??? fuckin awesome!!!
Even at half speed, the video is very disorientating 😀
Nice song, but the video disturbs me.
that´s the idea

Fuck, this video is painful to watch.
Great song though.
