Watching this episode as a guise of Hommage for Ustad Ji. Deeply saddened by His sudden demise.. Allah unko Jannat e firdaus de. Vandan from Mauritius, Navin Aukhez 🙏💐
Pt Arvind Parikh ji aapka bohat shukriya ki aap itni achchi ye series bohat kaamyaabi se chala rahey hai aapko bohat mubaarakbaad. Ustad Iqbal Ahemad khan saab jese gharanedaar hasti ko aapne invite kiya ye bari baat hai aur mera ye maanna hai ki ustad Iqbal Ahemad khansaab ek bohat hi Laajawaab aur Behtreen Guni artist hai aur apne gharane ki pehchaan hai.🙏🏻
This is a wonderful series! I have been following these baithaks for a while now. Thank you for putting this up on youtube and making it accessible to all!
Have you heard of the great Gopal Nayak , the star musician, who went from the court of the Devagiri Yadavas in Maharashtra to Dilli at the instance of Hazrat Khusro (after the conquest of Devagiri); he played a stellar role in the creation of Hindustani system. Incidentally, the greatness of the Devagiri is reflected in the ragas such as Devagiri Bilawal and the great encylopaedic work called Sangit Ratnakara of the Kashmir polymath of the Devagiri court called Sharangadeva....it contains Turushka (Turkish) Todi and other Islamic melodies too...
I wish a lot more about Gopal Nayak becomes known. It is a fascinating history acknowledged by many traditions from qawwals. The connection between Gopal Nayak and Amir Khusro is the stuff of legend.
In the history of Khayal, attributions are made from Amir Khusro to Hassan Shah Sharqi of Jaunpur to Niyamat Khan or Sadarang.... More light needs to be shed on this.
Before even listening to this, one should listen to baithak of other greats like Shruti ji or Uday ji or Ashwini ji to understand the depth of "Indian music". Over romanticism and fallacy of Khusro is not on which Indian music has survived or grown. Once all historic references are destroyed, one can get mesmerized in any number of "tarikh" and "stories"...

It would be lovely to have a new book tracing the history of Hindustani classical music from the twelfth century onwards.
Nice

Tabla vs pakhawaj, kheyals were accompanied by ?prabandha music was prevalent when amir khusro.,arrived. There could be other ways to glorify kheyals.
