This sketchbook "go through" somehow makes me really happy, 'cause the teacher is really supportive and compliments Omnaya's style of drawing and her technique. All my teachers at the art school I'm currently enrolled at always have their own style they like, and if you don't show them that particular style they don't like it. I wish I had such a supportive teacher
When I was in uni I wasn't aloud to do my own style of artwork. I had to mould my style to the way the tutor wanted. I found that really unfair and not the right way to teach and help artists do their own thing to be better at what they do. I'm glad that this teach is really open with different styles. I love these videos and they inspire me to progress with my artwork. Thank you.
I'm always so inspired by these sketchbook videos and gosh, this is no exception. Amazing stuff. Oh, and Omnaya has got to be the coolest name I've ever heard.
i enjoy how passionate you are about your students work, it's lovely! i always look forward to seeing your videos in my inbox. your student's work is really really incredible and inspiring. thankyou!
I've watched this video tons of times because I really like her style! ^-^ I'm not a very good artist yet, but whenever I watch your videos and see what I could achieve, that inspires me to draw and try me best. Thank you! I can't wait to see another video! :)
I wish I could go to one of your classes. I've gotten so inspired by your videos and I've been working hard on trying to get better because of watching your videos :) Thanks for posting these up!
Wow, the video is MUCH clearer than with your old phone, Sir Archambault! Great video! Omnaya, you're amazingly talented and seeing your book realized sparked some life into my brain. Can't wait to see more! I also think your name is really beautiful. Just saying. :3
I like how she draws a lot of Cartoons and Anime, but she still does anatomy and other studies because a lot of beginner "anime artists", or just beginners in general, tend to think that they dont need to draw real life things or study anything because "copying is bad" or "Anime and Manga isnt suppose to look realistic".
I have been drawing pretty much since I can remember but I have a hard time drawing things from my mind cause I am use to drawing from things I see. But I was watching through this and just had to say the pictures she did with the Prism markers are so cool. I absolutely love how much detail in the color is there.
I love these videos, the art of her drawings is the stuff i like to draw, this inspired me more of how much potential on how i can become. Thanks for making these videos and keep it up. :D
So beautiful. So delicate. The way she draws hair... and eyes... and clothes... AND EVERYTHING. Geez! I want to die seeing her drawings, they're too... ah '-'
I dont care for her drawing style but you can tell this girl has some serious skill, I really like the way she shades and, like he said, she has amazing line quality.
I've asked a couple of guys to do sketchbooks, they said maybe next semester. I hope so. The students this year are really good. The guys just are not ready to be on youtube yet.
How do I join in this art school for s Chicago guy who love to draw i really love the art everyone has and i feel really pumped up that i found more rivals and i must get better i feel like i would be right at home but also so alone but i don't think that would last long with how everyone i see in these videos are nice and helpful and encouraging
i absolutely love all their efforts. they are genuine but they ty to copy, which is absolutely good thing to do. i haven't heard you say anything about why they worked in this way. please each one of us has been just the same and you're the one who went on a different path. but how did you manage to train yourself? can you talk about that while showing these sketchbooks
This is like my dream college, I've always wanted to go to America and I want to study illustration. Unfortunately I'm stuck in a college in UK with a teacher who only likes certain styles and wants more writing and realism in sketchbooks rather than our own ideas. He hates it when we draw from our minds.
To everyone who's asking about the colored pencils: They're called Col-erase. They're made by Prismacolor. You can buy them online, and are available on Amazon. The leads are pretty smooth, which is nice. They will erase, but you have to draw lightly at first.
I've been drawing since I can remember, I'm self taught, but my question is should I go back to the beginning, and get a good foundation like from a teacher or just keep doing what I'm doing?
I've seen ppl use red and blue colored pencil while they sketch and I've always wondered why? Are they tired of black or is it something more? plz answer
I always see these sketchbook videos and realize how much better I should be. I'm lazy, so practice and studying isn't exactly something I do much. Plus I tend to get frustrated sometimes, and get into long stretches where I don't draw at all. If I had the money, I'd go to this school, even if just because I seriously need to be forced to practice and draw from life more. If left to do it on my own, I'm just gonna keep being lazy and it's gonna take me ten times longer to improve. I mean, I'm 26 and I'm nowhere near as good as ANY of the people in thes videos. I'm not bad at drawing, but I wouldnt really say I'm "good" either. I CAN draw. I'm especially decent at faces since that's mostly what I draw. But most other stuff, I'm crap at. And even my faces are iffy if it's a weird angle, old people, or a style I'm not used to.
hey matthew! why you don't start uploading the videos in 720 or 1080? so that will improve the quality, because it doesn't matter if you have an iphone 5 if you still uploading in 480 D: by the way keep coming these videos they are really good! bye!
What can I do if there's no night classes near me? I don't really fancy learning online as I tend to learn from being taught hands on. A personal tutor would be out of the question.
I'm pretty sure what they're learning at this school is basically perfecting their strong spot. You're focusing on the wrong things while watching the video. Not all artists want to be a Jack of trades when it comes to drawing, some, like me just want to do one style cause that's what we love doing. And of course some of them are the same thing over & over again, she's taking art "classes" repetition is key when perfecting a craft.
Nice lines, cute chibi's, great use of markers. Her faces were off a lot though so once she works that out her characters will look a lot better. She needs more anatomy practice too but who doesn't? XD
@kikz786 Col-Erase. You can buy them on various art websites. I'm not really sure if they erase, as I have not purchased them yet. Wow I talk in a weird fashion.
i love to watch these sketchbooks they always inspire me,i wish i could go to this school.
I love these so much and they inspire me everytime I watch them. never stop making them.

I can tell how passionate you are with your job and your students. They're so lucky to have a teacher like you. :)
I think it's absolutely awesome that you record and post your student's work like this. It's very inspirational, and so much fun to watch!

She is an amazing artist and I love her sketchbook! It's really inspiring and makes me want to work on my drawing skills all the time.

***** hate when people say that... -_-it really dusts my doilies!
that is really disgusting. all kind of artist need to know anatomy. godd job of omaya
Francelia Jauregui ikr!!! I think, especially if you draw humans, that you should practice at least a little bit of anatomy/figure drawing....
Looking at this sketchbook, she needs more anatomy practice. Only saw a couple pages here that weren't from her imagination.
***** Exactly! But it was definitely a good start than doing none.
watching all your students sketchbook is inspiaraing. thank for showing it.
Love the line art as well everything flows
i love all the colors! thanks for uploading these!!

Hi , very nice sketches, Could you please tell me which brand and type of pencils you use for the blue and red colored ones.
Even from the beginning of the first page, this book is better than the previous one.
i absolutely love all their efforts. they are genuine but they ty to copy, which is absolutely good thing to do. i haven't heard you say anything about why they worked in this way. please each one of us has been just the same and you're the one who went on a different path. but how did you manage to train yourself? can you talk about that while showing these sketchbooks

So does she have a tumblr or deviantart or someplace where I can follow this amazing artist? :)
I've been drawing since I can remember, I'm self taught, but my question is should I go back to the beginning, and get a good foundation like from a teacher or just keep doing what I'm doing?

Anime-ish art goes around alot. But it always has that unique "thing" that makes you love it.
also, all your students draw line artwork in color, is that something you tell them to do to improve something or is it just like... for the lulz?
This may be a dumb question but what kind of pencils are being used to get those blue and orange lines?
can you show us sketchbooks from your illustration class please ?
what school is this because i would be a perfect fit for this institution.
What can I do if there's no night classes near me? I don't really fancy learning online as I tend to learn from being taught hands on. A personal tutor would be out of the question.
HOLY CRAP 10:02 is my background and i had no Idea where it came from, saw it on the internets somewhere

What kind of colored pencils is she using,,,? Colorized?
What kind of pencils did he say she was using? Are they like color pencils but erasable or something?
good job omnaya :)
Nice lines, cute chibi's, great use of markers. Her faces were off a lot though so once she works that out her characters will look a lot better. She needs more anatomy practice too but who doesn't? XD
The quality is just as good xD
I wanna draw like her!!
Well I guess when you put it that way, I guess I started drawing seriously just last year. But sometimes I do wish I was farther along than I am now:(
Just head over to my site and click on Free Drawing Tip. It's right on my homepage.
very very good with marker :) should try bleedproof marker paper
i can't find this video in your blog?
does she have tumblr or somethin??
Sorry just watched the rest of that scene a figured out it wasnt the prism marker. But still the ones colored with markers are amazing.
what was the pencil she used for her art?
@kikz786 Col-Erase. You can buy them on various art websites. I'm not really sure if they erase, as I have not purchased them yet. Wow I talk in a weird fashion.
ADVENTURE TIME!!! XD love it!
Omnaya's DA name is NekoPrincess13 for those who wondered. :)
Wait.. so this is a university? What's the name? I'm want to join when I go to college
