    The 24 F1.4 G is a superlative lens, I don’t own one as my 14-24 Nikkor F2.8 covers the wide stuff, I’ve compared the results of both lens at 24mm and the 1:4 shows a bit better, especially in low light shooting and of course it’s considerably lighter to pack for travel. I own Nikkor’s G series F1.4 lens in 35, 58, and 85mm so not rushing to add one to my collection but that doesn’t stop me from lusting for one. The older I get the less GAS syndrome effects me it seems, in fact I still shoot with my Nikkor 28-70 F2.8’ never bothering to upgrade to the new 24-70. Once I stopped shooting weddings I found my self shooting less and less in that focal range, preferring my primes which make me work a bit harder but my my the way they render images!!! Thanks for sharing and be well my friend. Ciao.

      Thanks for the comment Steve. Yes the 24 1.4G is quality. Its one of those lenses you don't have to have to get work done. Like I said in the video if you have an extra 1k burning a hole in your wallet and you want a new lens, its to be considered. But its a solid lens and at the highest quality like you said in your comment.

    I’m just asking myself this question! Owning the 24-70 VR I’m wondering if I invest in this 1.4 lens to increase my creativity thanks to its wide aperture.
    But I find so many on sale on the second hand market that I’m asking myself if there is a mistake behind this lens.

      Well, Its a great lens. Did I use it much. Not really. For what I do it hardly got used. For others maybe doing astro thin might be the lens to get. If you shoot allot of 24mm and dark settings with n ot enough light. Churches and stuff, maybe., Used you can find deals on this lens.

      @@Vahagraphy Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer me. Well, I'll wait for the good opportunity. There are plenty on the market here in France. I can see easily 10 items on the second had market on online stores... waiting for the price to drop ... In the meantime, the 24-70 f/2,8 VR will do the job !

    Hi Vahaga thanks for video, 24 1.4 was always on my wishlist. Do you prefer 35mm focal lenght over 24..? I did not enjoy 35mm much so just asking your openion.? Thanks

    • @Vahagraphy
      @Vahagraphy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well it depends what I'm shooting. The 35 is probably in my bag more than the 24 only because I use the 24-70 most of the time if I need 24mm. The 35 is solid If your doing street and travel. Even wider portraits. I would get a 50mm before a 35 btw.

    Nice review of the 24mm 1.4 and 24-70mm 2.8. Both are very good quality lenses and a premium price. I like the 24mm 1.4 for it's wide aperture, it sure take a lot of light into the camera and it's great for low light areas. Great video.

    • @Vahagraphy
      @Vahagraphy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Im thinking low lit ceremonies . The 24 1.4 close focuses very well, and it gives this effect to the pictures at 1.4 that cannot be duplicated with the 24-70. and a heavy lens at that. Nice lens, is it worth the Original 2K price tag. I don't know but if you find one online they go for allot less.

    A good alternative if price is an issue is the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 . I love it and was just willing to spend $800 instead of $1800 for the lens lol.

      Question for you. Never used Sigma on a Z mirrorless. I would like to know how it performs on a Z camera with FTZ, also, hows the focus speed on a dslr? Are these sigma lenses as fast as nikons? Hows the sharpness and color? Images pop?

    Love your content. Always great gear reviews and comparisons.1.4 is so clear. The 24mm f I have the Nikon 24mm f1.4 g. This was one of my first lenses next to a 50mm and I have not let this lens go. I use the 24mm f1.4 for landscape and urban street night photography. I have the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 and I was considering purchasing the NIkon 24-70mm but the Tamron has been my workhorse goto lenses for all occassions photography even in low light it has done a fantatstic job.

    I chose the sigma 24mm 1.4 a while ago adapted to my z cameras and definitely don’t regret it 👍🏼 I love using it in portraits, It really sets you apart from 24-70 photographers.

    • @Vahagraphy

      Hi Diego. Using a fast 24mm prime has its special advantages. Yes its not really a must have. And they are pricey. but I don't know one photographer who has used one and didn't like it. I like the DOF wide open at 24mm and it can be useful in low light situations. Sigma is a great option.

  • @jivaro77

    I have em both, the 24m f1.4 is good for indoors and low light outdoors, otherwise the 24-70 f2.8 is of a more versatile if can sacrifice on the higher iso and lower shutter speed.

    I have worked with most Nikon lenses; the 24F 1.4G lens is not a bad lens; But in the open aperture up to 2.8, it has serious defects in the corners; I see the 24 1.8 g lens as a much better lens that has a higher quality at a much lower price; The optics of the 1.8G version is very high and sharp and microcontrast, and it is sharp in the center and corners of the same 1.8G. Regarding the 24-70 f 2.8G, in my opinion, it is one of Nikon's legendary and valuable lenses, which never gets old, and has excellent optical mechanics and the feeling of holding it is always enjoyable.

    Awesome video...
    Thought about the 24mm 1.4G. But I opted for the Nikon 20mm 1.8G and the 24mm 2.8D (aperture ring)... saved a few bucks but I personally thought to 20mm was best. But that 24mm 1.4 is no joke...
