Here we hear Bach weeping joyfully. Not the muscular rhythmically perfect interpretations of Gould-which are perfect. But, Bach alive again in a new way. Thanks.
Mehldau is where Bach (G-Minor Fugue), Chopin (Prelude 15 "raindrop") and Ravel (Le Gibet from Gaspard de la nuit) do merge in his epic jazz based improvisation. It takes away a lot weight from my shoulders during these days, decreasing their sadness, gradually replacing it by joy!
@@frankrault3190 trust me it's fully written. To be exact: 3 pieces by Mehldau which were performed on that recital are actually notated: Rondo, Ostinato and Toccata. The others are improvised.
Brad is not of this earth - a phenom
How soothing during this difficult time.

Yes : BACH lives again with Brad Meldhau !! Also with Gabriella Montero ✌️👏👏
@@jeanlucchapelonGlad to find another Gabriela Montero admirer. She’s great and I think she doesn’t get the recognition that she deserves.

It's not an improvisation tho
@@icewingsky This undoubtedly started as an improvisation, and not much as a written composition.

Love it❤️
This music is very much Bradch. Quite unique.

Mehldau is to Bach on piano as Kremer is to Bach on violin. (Chaconne) Rubato is essential!
Don't think this could be any wonderful-er!
The Ending is ..........................
