The song pays tribute to Kirsten Brydum, a 25 year-old community activist from San Francisco who was fatally shot in New Orleans while on vacation in an apparent robbery on September 27th, 2008. Such a powerful song. I know he uses the word darling but the lyrics remind me so much of my dad who died in Iraq 2005. It is nice to hear some real music with some real meaning behind it again. Keep doing what you do Mr. Haynes.

Chayene Tassior - To be honest, I like that the crowd eventually starts to get it and quiets down. The crowd noise adds a nice bit of ambiance to it; I like this version far more than the standard studio version. Part of that is just the instrumental sound but the venue definitely adds something.
Alibi McJohnson Sometimes they do, but at least at the places I went with live music, people would never stay quiet and pay attention.
Chayene Tassior Definitely understood, usually kinda nice when they do but for whatever reason, I like that hum of crowd noise here. The folks that weren't paying attention didn't deserve what they missed out on :)
